  • Chill men...have a puff on my dubie man.

  • wow this is a dam hot to rock tune, but i missssed the spot when the bass laid in to this song with that awesome flair of the wahwahwha and then the pushermqan would comein

  • STOP THE NDAA BILL GODDAM THE PUSSHER MAN GODBLESS AMERICA N FREEDOM OF SPEACH. GHOST!

  • They wouldn't play this for me on the radio. Banned by the FCC. Well I smoked a lot of grass, and I popped a lot of pills...

  • Wow. Wow. Wow. I knew that these guys not only had the coolest name ever, but had done some excellent songs. However, with this one they really hit the MOTHERLODE of groove. I don't think that today's 100 notes-a-minute merchants will ever 'get' this kind of song, but here's hoping...

  • you know man I dont go in your man made churches and try to make you live your life according to my God...and my God is a God THAT UNDERSTANDS living a good life has nothing to do with music lyrics.. • @baby10215 And how old is John Kay by now. Maybe rehabed but I think he might

have dabbled in the finer things of herbs and chemicals. Long live DR. HOOK

  • the greatest band ever!

  • @bluejayg56 this song has been around longer than this version

  • mamacas102w you r right....listen up...love you,... sister.

  • This is too cool! Steppenwolf had a knack of starting songs with something unique!! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • there is a difference between pushers and dealers

  • @photoslum WHAT!

  • @unclemark5

i can explain if you are willing to listen. and perhaps times have changed. if you recall the image of 'the pusher' he was someone lurking around trying to get someone to try something, yeah he sold too, but he'd seek out anyone to get to try, he pushed his wares. the dealer, you know where to find him too, he's standing on the corner and selling. he will take new customers, but he isn't recruiting its a subtle difference. i am not making any right or wrong claims

  • Politicians are the New Pusher Man Trust this.

    It is probably true.

    Thy King

  • The correct title: The Pusher.

  • It was then and it is now still great

  • "Dam" The Vicoden and Xanax pushers.

  • wp4866 is a drug pusher in the 21st Century. When he gets caught, he will rat out everyone he knows to make a plea deal. Probably has no morals and sits in front of an Elementary School eyeing little girls with bad intent.Looser.

  • somtimes not always but somtimes the pusherman is just trin to feed his kidz

  • This song was written by country star Hoyt Axton-This is a cover song-Hoyt also wrote *mama told me not to come* covered by THREE DOG NIGHT back in 1981 I did a *ROCKIN IN THE HILLS* at a Beautiful ampitheater in Moundsville WV-With John Kay and Steppenwolf-Later called success in the hills-He has such an Aura about him in person-He was born in Germany! And legally blind-He took me under his wing and gave me some good advice about the music bus.

  • I was 11 when my older sister and her friends would play Steppenwolf I would sneak in her room and play this song over and over off the best Album my oter favorite was Hotchie Cotchie man brings back lots of memories

  • @69louism me tooo...

  • thanx for sharing m, cheers

  • Its funny, this wouldnt get played on the radio cause they said it promoted drugs. lol there is a lot of shit music on the radio now that promotes drugs.

  • these guys fuckin rock

  • Any idea of date and location of this concert?

Also, what guitar is John Kay playing?

    Thanks in advance.

  • @MajorCaliber a 381 Rickenbacker a special make only 280 were made

  • @db95018 they also made a roger mcguinn model 12 string and a carl wilson model 12 string

  • goD has already damned us ALL by imposing "Sin" & "Judgement". And again when his followers co-opted all of the Goddess's holy days & called them their own. And again when they murdered the Goddess's people in "his" name, million's of them! You Easter Bunny worshiping FREAK! I know right from wrong & don't need YOU to judge me for use of a "word". goD Damn!

  • I said "God Damn........."

  • @lisafarrah53 Just listen to the song and not complain a phrase.

  • If any one is going to damn someone, it ought to be God.

  • Steppenwolf was a studio group like the archies when steppenwolf played in Kansas City they opened with Magic carpet ride and the group was terrible. The group was not he real studio group and the fans hated the concert. It was BULLSHI - concfert.

  • Steppen loaf!

  • Love the bass player!

  • @wp4866 you gotta love the music though, right?

  • When they performed at RibFest in Indianapolis circa 2003, I thought they would be just another has-been band going through the motions.

But just the opposite. The vitamin B shots must have kicked in.

  • i think i speak for all the 'right-thinking' people in the world when i say: freakin' idiots....

  • With out a doubt down an gut rock music.so much can be said, what times those were.

  • great song written by hoyt axton

  • O interesante é que alguém na banda (keib) faz o som do baixo. Eu, em particular, gostaria da presença, nem que fosse de um boneco, com o baixo. Mesmo assim o concerto é muito bom.

  • Is this recorded in '75?

Great Vid and Audio quality for 1975.

    Nice download, pyoa2004.

  • @SokemRokemRobot i think maybe you should listen to the other words in the song, not just the ones that you think are offensive. the gist of the song is that they are asking God to damn the pusher, not as you stated "using God's name in vain like it's no big deal". sometimes we only see (hear) what we want to see (hear).

  • @pcmcmeans amen to that brother!

  • Comment removed

  • @pcmcmeans It's not within the jurisdiction of any person on this planet to tell God to damn anyone. In fact, pushing for anyone's damnation is just as evil as pushing drugs. You, I, & every other person on this planet is as much in need of redemption as any pusher. 2Peter3:9 "God is patient with you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." We are to love one another, teach one another, help one another to renounce evil - not damn one another.

  • @pcmcmeans right, back in the day my parents gave a lot of parties, somehow I played "dj" on the "hi-fi stero", I played this album, yes, vinyl, a female party guest went off on my Mom about this very thing, so proud of my Mother this was the first time she had heard the song but, told the woman to "re-listen" to to words again, and asked her how many points selling cards for the church did her son have." He didn't go to Church but, I did and still do....

  • @SokemRokemRobot ..................yeah and you probably support the death penalty!

  • @SokemRokemRobot GIVE THAT RELIGIOUS BULLSHIT A REST.

  • @mortyok3 SokemRokem is not talking "religious bullshit." The line "God damn the pusher" truly is using God's name in vain. Not only is it evil to wish God to damn anyone, it's also hypocrisy. Not one of us on this planet - not you, not I, not John Kay, not your mother or child - is sinless. To wish damnation for others is to wish it for ourselves. God wishes damnation for no-one: 2Peter3:9. "He is patient with you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."

  • @tamething1 You are so mired in this religion crap that you think you have the right to judge and condemn others' behavior. People who quote the Bible are so full of themselves, thinking "This is the word of God". It is the word of MAN, all of this crap you are clinging to is MAN-MADE. You are quoting a MAN. Yeah, I can claim to be "inspired by God", just like all the Republican hypocrites who claim "God asked me to run for President".

  • @tamething1 there are plenty of instances in the the old and new testament that contradict your claim. If you're going to shove religion down the throats of the masses at least have the appropriate knowledge so your "opinions" can at least sound slightly accurate. ....just replying to people like you makes me sick. Enjoy your crusade weirdo.

  • @jamesmm1124 There's the NEW testicle... and then... there's the OLD testicle...

  • i just took something that has me thinking its 1975

    goddamn the pusher man! ;)

  • The lead guitarist's touch turned my soul inside out, washed it, wrung it, then hung up to dry during the first solo, good thing to 'cuz I was crying thinking of a girlfriend I lost to that shit.

  • @therugburnz - Sorry for your loss...I've lost some friends over the years from harder drugs.

  • @therugburnz So sorry for your loss...I've had a couple of friends lost to hard drugs, too...sucks

  • Not the best, but its a good memory

  • @wp4866 ..Not witty at all. Stupid. Grow Up. Change.

  • @wp4866 Drug pushers enslave people and destroy lives they should be in prison

  • @wp4866 As a drug pusher i used to deeply resent this song, then I took an arrow in the knee.

gracias por existir y traer luz al mundo.

  • Énorme cette musique !

  • you got to have some step and a litle WOLF....

  • Biker rock classic! Danny Johnson is a BAD ASS on lead guitar. One of the top classic rock lead players. I was at this show!

  • Cherokee N.C. Biker Rally early 90's bad ass concert. Nothing has topped it since !

  • I saw Steppenwolf in the 80's at a local bar........what a killer show.

  • ooh baby...

  • fan-fking-tastic!!

  • back when music was the best and it was still fun to go to a live show

and see real rock and rool

  • AMEN AMEN,!!!

  • Wasted 6 years on meth. Goddamn the pusher man!!

  • GREATNESS..!!!!!!!!!!

  • And the Government is the Pusherman for alcohol and cigarettes (all legal, of course)

And the pharmaceutical companies are the Pusherman for extremely toxic and addictive products.(again all legal, of course)

I feel so angry at all of this, that I have to end my comment before I go into a rant

  • @123ThisIsMe u talk 2 much

  • @frekijsimpson

    I talk too much ...?

OK .. And you have nothing going on at all. Just look at your page !

  • Don't know about analyzing the words, it's just a good tune to me.

  • Thought I'd share my morning brain worm and help Norm get started. Have a great Day!

  • this song makes me want to do drugs so bad, but im not gonna

  • scratchy version but love the prominence of the bass guitar

  • @danoph What bass guitar? When John Kay reformed the band, the bass player was "omitted" in favor of keyboardist Michael Wilk's ability to lay down a bass line on his organ. Listen to the original cut from the Second Album and you'll be able to tell the difference. JK's last band consisted of Wilk, drummer Ron Hurst and guitarist Danny Johnson. All good musicians. Personally, I miss that bass player but that's the way it went until JK retired after 40 yrs.

  • This should have been Bush Sr's theme song being he started the so called "war on drugs".

  • oh yeah!!

  • luv luv luv great tune

  • Anyway, we all used to slam speed in the late 80's. Stay awake for days just jamming in bombed out flats in San Fran. No rent, massive worries, too high to care. We would play this song on the morning, on the patio by the garden, after a gig all high as kites. Bring you right down to earth, bro's. Sobering.

  • Fuck you. I don' t think Allyssas first tongue is English. How many do you speak, skank? What she says is true

  • LAST ONE... having said all that.... i also realize its my own interpretation of the song. It works just as well for heroin dealers, cigarette companies, beer companies, or any distributor of a product that really doesnt help anyone but just makes money. thats the mark of a good song, you can make of it what you will :)

  • Continued... " ... I'd kill 'em with my bible, and i'd RAISE THE RENT..." meaning the rent for drug companies... Now the ORIGANAL version was written by Curtis Mayfield, and IT had to do with heroin and hard drugs, but if you look at the time of this covers release, what the lyrics say (or were changed to), you can see where i'm coming from...

  • @indigochile Hi indigochile. I share your expanded interpretation to include corporate pushers of all kinds of bad products (Enron stock, anyone?). As a side point, this song was written by Hoyt Axton in 1963, first recorded by Steppenwolf in 1968 and included in the 1969 movie Easy Rider. Curtis Mayfield's song by similar title and subject matter was in 1972 for the movie and album SuperFly Cheers.

  • @mattbastardsen u talk 2 much

  • Continued.... " if i were the president.. i'd declare total war on the pusher man" the War on Drugs started the same year this song was in the movie "easy rider" so it was already declared by the pres... so if HE were the president this is what HE would do...

  • Continued.... " you know the dealer is a man with a love grass in his hand, but the pusher is a monster, thank God he's not a NATURAL man." herb is natural, pills are not... "... the dealer gives you sweet dreams" with the herb... "the pusher will leave your mind to scream" and thats what happens if you mix a bunch of pills...

  • Continued... the song starts out with the herb and pills... then goes on to say "... i've seen alotta people walkin round with tombstones in their eyes, but the pusher doesn't care if you live or if you die.." which is exactly how drug companies look at their customers...

  • after reading all the comments on here i thought it was HIGH time i shared with people what this song means.... the dealer is the guy who has the drugs we all know and love (weed, coke, ect...) and the pusher is the drug companies...

  • classic song with a REAL message !

  • Imat001 is an ITIOT! i didn't even watch the video, i just commented to show he's an itiot

  • @AlyssaDesire......... yea its hard to call a person an iDiot when you spell the insult wrong... :)

  • this is a real classic.............why don't people realise this?

  • omg

  • YOU KNOW I SMOKED A LOT OF GRASS-- Yea hea baby.

  • @donjuan254 ..AMEN to that!!!

  • The song is called The Pusher not The Pusherman

  • @thesharkface22 Right On! and GOD DAMN the PUSHER!

  • @thesharkface22 Probably the uploader confused it with Curtis Mayfield's song, although they have nothing in common (but they're both brilliant songs)

  • The problem with heroin is that it is the best stuff this world has to offer.

  • @Imat00l I've had morphine several times in the hospital, so I know where you're coming from. It made me feel better than I ever had before. It's not something I would fool with otherwise. The first time was the best and the next couple of times it just wasn't as wonderful as the first time. Dangerous stuff and best to avoid, as it gives you a very strong urge to want more!

  • i said god damn

  • Song written by Hoyt Axton

  • @ottvalley no shit ,i did not know that .. thank you

  • I grew to hate Heroin, no doubt about it. But I could never bring myself to hate, or blame the "pusher". To me that's like hating the liquor store owner if you let booze destroy your job, marriage and health. The pusher is just supplying what you want, or thought you wanted. Nothing personal beyond your own bad life choices. My pusher actually cared about me and always cautioned me when my use was getting too high, too fast. Just my own experience I guess...

  • @randy109

    that's not a pusher, that's a dealer

    listen to the words:

    The dealer for a nickel

Lord, will sell you lots of sweet dreams

Ah, but the pusher ruin your body

Lord, he'll leave your, he'll leave your mind to scream

The dealer has product to buy, should you want it. The pusher tells you you should buy all the time.

It's like high-pressure sales vs. going to wal-mart

  • @shwadinger they're all monsters, man

  • shwadinger- That's like saying you're OK with the local market selling Budweiser but you HATE the marketing dept. at Budweiser for making cool commercials to get you to buy their product. I DO understand what you're saying but I think the line is too fine to separate the 2. Either way the "pusher" or the "dealer" are both bad people because they sell a product that will addict you, and may kill you. -Peace-

  • @randy95023- No, it's the difference between me not really caring about the Beer Store that sells me Budweiser, but hating the advertiser who tries to make a hard sell on me by constantly telling me I need to buy some for whatever reason, or preying on a weakness of mine for drinking _just_ to get a sale.

There's a difference between having an item for sale and actively pushing it on to people.

  • Unfortunately the static coming off this video is making it hard to listen to. The song and performance are great though.

  • Big man! Man The music, i'think ;-))

  • Charles Robert Hiceits a little differant then the RECORD was (SOK) they was famous

  • I saw Steppenwolf in 1979 at The Peppermint in Va Beach and they didn't rock nearly this good. Was a small place or maybe in a down time but this performance clearly is over the top in my opinion. John Kay and Danny Johnson. Great Job. RESPECT

  • Nice Video ..Thank You !!!

I saw Steppenwolf in 1986 in Indianapolis, In.

I was 20 years old, I bought a handkerchief at that concert that has the wolf on it., and i still have it !

  • the sound quality is scratchy...! crank it up LOUD ! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @frekijsimpson U mad?

  • Fantastic..!! But my favorite version is the Steppenwolf Live album way back..the leads were incredible...but 40 yrs later John Kay is incredible.such stage presence!!

  • You got it,I just had it cranked up last weekend. One of the finest live albums.Superb hard guitar , studio versions of their songs are often a bit more mellow if you know what I mean.

  • This is so good! I have to keep watching it because it makes me remember why we did those things.

  • Pass the bong please.JC

  • microdot ooooooohhhhhhhhhhh yyyyyyyyyyeeeeaaaa sweet

  • Hoyt Axton wrote this song

  • John Kay is the lead singers name

  • Fuck Berlusconi

  • could anyone of you guys tell me the chords to this song?

  • sounds easy- like u can pick it up like sm
