The creators of Carbonite and scrambling to get an updated version working for the 4.x.x patch. There is currently a 4.0.1 beta that is extremely buggy. My advice (what I am going to do), wait as long as you can without a map addon and Carbonite should be in working order.
Thank you for posting this! Carbonite is far unappreciated and people don't know what they are missing. Carbonite is a little overwhelming at first, but once you figure out all it has to offer, the power is amazing. The multi-level detail alone -- being able to see the normal world map when zoomed out, and then zooming in "google maps style" into a minimap-terrain view -- alone makes it worth having. But that's just the tip of an iceberg. This is absolutely my favorite addon.
