@StephenRedrobe I believe you're right, Stephen; my bad. Blue had been claimed back by his Bee Gee employers, and MB did the US tour. Forgot this was an American gig. Cheers, Colin
It's a shame this version of MTH could not have stuck it out for a few more years and really gelled as a musical unit. Luther Grosvenor is a great guitarist, but you can tell he's still feeling his way around the songs in the solos.
Mott the Hoople changed my life when first seen them Sept. 1972 "In Concert", which we can't seem to post...met a girl from Liverpool, yeah...come on..rock out man! This vid is Excellent....
From Don Kirschners Rock Concert--I remember actually holding a dinky microphone up to the speaker of the TV to record this. I still have it on tape but it's like the bootlegs from the day---horrible but a slice of history
for some reason Hunter reminds me of Robert Plant right here... probably the hair but idk his mannerisms seem similar but ya vocals are definitely way different
Luther (Ariel) must have just left Stealers Wheel within days or weeks of this, because their last single featuring him - "Everything Will Turn Out Fine" - was just being released about that time. Gerry Rafferty - RIP.
@LabelBob Yes, Mick Jones did replace Luther, and Gary was an original member of Spooky Tooth as was Luther, Greg Ridley, bless him, Mike Harrison, and Mike Kellie. Greg was replaced by Chrissy Stewart, then by Val Burke for the last album, Mike by Bryson Graham, and Mike Harrison by Mike Patto, RIP. Mick and Gary Wright was the last holdouts for the last album, the little-known but one of their finest, "The Mirror".
Bloody miserable crowd!

I saw them the next year in Memphis with Queen and was the greatest concert of all time. What are these idiots doing sitting on their hands?
