There's also the misconception that today's supermodels are much skinnier than their predecessors of generations past. Optical illusion? Again, let's look at some facts. Cindy Crawford--who is my all-time fave--measured a svelte 34-25.5-36 in her prime. My runner-ups include: Claudia Schiffer(34-24-36), Stephanie Seymour(33-23-33), Carol Alt(34-25-34), and Christy Turlington(34-23-36). So if anything, the top echelon supermodels of yesteryear were slightly bigger around the hips and waist.

@ianrkav How could I ever forget about Yasmeen Ghauri! Coincidentally, here's yet another '90s supermodel with the same measurements as Flavia(34-24-35). What I found most interesting about Flavia is her chameleon like looks which is a definite plus for models and actresses. Perhaps she may not appear as curvy partly due to the type of clothing she wears. However, my fave scene from this video is from 5:12-5:21, which is one of my all-time fave looks ever sported by her on the runaway.

@ianrkav Brazilian models are to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show as Venezuelan models are to the Miss Universe Pageant. Venezuela is second only to the United States in number of wins and runner-ups and for good reason. Stefania Fernandez(2009) and Dayana Mendoza(2008)--are in my opinion--two of the most beautiful winners ever. Speaking of the VSFS, Flavia, along with fellow countrywomen, Alessandra Abrosio, Adriana Lima and Izabel Goulart are ranked in my top five.

However, Dayana did refer to her abduction as an "express kidnapping"--so it may be safe to say that she most likely did pay a ransom since express kidnapping by definition involves a small ransom which is requested from the perpetrator--the most common form being ATM abductions.

@ianrkav I'm from Hawai'i--the so called melting pot of the Pacific--yet despite this there aren't many Latin women. However, there are literally tens of thousands of women of multi-ethnic ancestry who sort of resemble Latin women, many of whom have diverse ethnic roots. In Hawai'i we call it Hapa Haole, which usually denotes a person with Asian/Caucasian ancestry. Local model Patricia Ford is a perfect example of a stunning Hapa Haole Wahine. Most Miss Hawai'i winners are also Hapa as well.

For example, both Flavia Oliveira and Ana Beatriz Barros aren't VS Angels, yet both walked the VSFS runway multiple times. Ana reputedly turned down offers for an Angel contract. Case in point: While there are only twelve current VS Angels, the 2010 VSFS had almost 3 dozen models walking the runway.

One possible reason why Ana hasn't received her wings yet could be because she's the face of another U.S. based lingerie company--JLO Lingerie--which could pose a conflict of interest/breach of contract if she were to have become the spokeswoman of two niche market competitors. Anyhow, Ana has walked the VSFS runway 6 times--so without question the elitist fashion insiders love her.

So it sure appears that Flavia remains a hot commodity in the fashion world considering Elle is the world's preeminent fashion magazine. Hopefully this will secure her a spot in the 2011 VSFS. If it were up to me--Flavia has earned her wings and in my humble opinion should be a VS Angel.

Elle is also the fastest growing fashion magazine, and as far as paid circulation goes, it is also the most widely published with 42 international editions in 60 countries. I personally prefer Elle over Vogue, Harper's, and W simply because they feature more exotic types of models such as Flavia.
