I'm glad for him, but I wish he'd examined his own faith more closely. There are so few Jewish athletes out there for Jewish kids to look up to. Growing up like I did, a Jewish kid who loved football and playing high school ball, having few role models of my own faith was hard. Through his actions he basically said "Our faith wasn't good enough." Please don't tell me I don't understand Christianity, my dads Catholic, my wife is Lutheran, & we're raising our daughter as a Christian.
I'd forgotten that I'd written this 3 years ago until I got a response today. Typical. 7 "Thumbs Down" and no intelligent comments from anyone. No one who "Thumbs Downed" my comment understands what I wrote-because not a single one of you is Jewish. We are only 2.2% of the population of this country, we have so few athlete role models. You can read I said I was glad for Tadmans recovery, but I guess that doesn't matter. I didn't slam him in anyway, but you all slam me. How Christian of you.
Hey, this rocks. Marty is a great leader and that bible study started out with only like 6 people at the beginning of last year, and it just kept growing. God is doing some amazing things in Martys life. I'm honored to have him, and his wife Nicole as my friends. Heck yes! i love you guys!
What a testimony for how God can change a life. Thank you for sharing this personal part of your life, Marty. You are one of the reasons why Boise State is such a special football team to it's fans in Boise and across the Nation. Go BSU Broncos....
this is crazy. i was in the same 5th/6th grade class as Marty. We also went to the same Junior High. Him and I were nearly best friends during that time, and did everything together. Marty, if you read these, send me a msg. This is Jake. Crazy to hear from you after what, 7 or 8 years.
Having coached Marty's brother in football, I had the opportunity to meet the Tadman family. What a great family. I thank God for how he has helped you and your family. God Bless.
Seems like a really good guy, good to see that he is doing well in life. This is one of those unusual news stories that actually makes me feel like there's some good going on in the world.
We all have our struggles and obstacles. The question is why did Marty have to turn to drugs in the first place, what void was it in his life that he need to fill???
What's the difference between drinking, drugs, football? They are all useless...
