  • This is great advise! Especially since I'm going into University soon.

  • If you don't GET and USE credit, then you can't build your credit score... which means you can't get a loan to buy a car, house, etc. I have a friend who wanted to take out a business loan but was denied because she had no credit, even though she had tens of thousands in savings! The key is to have a couple of credit cards and pay them off completely every month. And putting money aside for rent? Creating envelopes and budgeting? This is just common sense.

  • I'm going to college soon and even though my family assures me I'll be fine because of how frugal I am, I still find myself worrying about not being able to afford certain things or becoming a hobo! But after watching this, realizing the little luxuries you enjoy but can afford due to the habits you have (which are similar to mine) you've definitely given me such a relief~! Thank you so much, I love your videos <3

  • I am definitely going to use the envelope idea. Its genius. I might make some kind of billboard with pockets and put money for each item in thier respective pocket :)

I like billboards :) Thanks for all the tips :)

  • This was any great video! ...I've read alot of budget books and felt restricted but when I think about it your way it does make me feel liberated... Thank you

  • this is so amazing.. and so what i needed at the moment! very smart & practical, and you're still able to what you love to do! :) thank you for this!

  • I think out of all your vids this is my favorite because you give amazing advise and you seem so honest and it's really inspiring, thanx

  • thankyou for this video. there should be more videos like this on youtube

  • Wow! I am so thankful for this video. It really helped me, I am in a little debt and looking to move out soon so I need to get the debt under control. A lot of the things that you said are so true about spending on a whim and regretting it later! Thanks so much!! :)

  • Can you upload a video telling your thoughts about Inglot cosmetics? :D

  • I love videos like this because it's nice to hear what others do with their money; we can help each other :) "You can't have it all" that to me is the biggest thing, because companies act as though they're giving things away when in reality you're digging yourself deeper into debt.

  • Could you do a video on your favorite online shops for clothes and makeup? I'm so sick of department stores here and would looooooove to find out more places online. :)

  • This is a BRILLIANT video, thank you so much for making it!

  • yay! thanks for the vid! that was inspiring :D

  • It does suck being into fashion/beauty in Australia, most of the other English speaking countries in the world have many more, readily available cheaper products.

  • Great video and very useful info!

  • thank you, Sarah. I am terrible with my money and this has given me some things to think about. My biggest problem is online shopping. its so easy to click a button and pay for things. I have no savings, its terrible. PS, you are SO organised!

  • Thank you <3

  • This is definitely great advice for people. Budgeting and saving can really help you in the real world. Start young when you don't need it! I'm 16, and have a steady babysitting job, and I'm already keeping track of money and saving it. That way when I leave home, I won't end up broke in a week!

  • Which state did you live before Melbourne?

  • @crystalizexx Western Australia (Perth) xo

  • @alllldolledup haha awesome, that's where I live

  • @alllldolledup what part of perth?

  • Brilliant video! Really useful, thanks!! :D

  • this is very very informative. Thank you for this vid :D

  • Awesome tips. Your videos are the best! Very informative.

  • do you use special effects for ur hair?? also where do u get it from?

  • @Elle2528 I'm currently using Directions by La Riche, I mix a few colours and get it off UK Ebay... Then I put a Loreal colorball over the top. I change my dyes almost monthly :)

  • The wish list is fabulous, I do this too :)

  • would you ever do a healthy eating/exercise video?

  • @jojokjk I've been asked for this many times! It's something I'm considering once I have an amazing diet/exercise plan all sorted.

  • Wow thank you! This has been some of the best advice! I moved out of the parents house but live with my sister! I really want to live by myself, I'm not fond living with others. But this just puts it in perspective. I'm terrified of debt, but your advice is so helpful, it gives me some confidence that I can live the way I want to without going broke. So thank you really! I think you need to write a book! Seriously!

  • well said! i wish i'd been able to start working young, but my parents wouldn't let me. after some time as an adult, making money, i spent it all! i never saved. i never even thought about the value of the dollar. now that i'm in the navy, at 24, and about to have a baby, i've finally learned to appreciate my money, and to count every dollar. i wish i could have come across this video at a much younger age... that would have definitely changed the course of things! thx for posting!

  • simple but great advice! i feel like you really care about your viewers not just like most people on you tube who just tell you go out and buy everything! love your style its important to me to have more "alternative" gurus on here like you!

  • Of all the thousands of youtubers who do hauls, makeup tutorials and other junk, you are like the only one to actually give GOOD ADVICE on how to BUDGET your money which is highly important in order for you to live a happy life. There other things more important to spend ur money on than just makeup and unfortunately some people are unaware of that and go broke trying to compete with their youtube gurus

  • This was so helpful! Thank you :)

  • I like to spend money on expensive underwear....

  • great video as always, sarah! i did not find this boring one single bit, i think you're very enagaging in your videos. i still live at home because i'm trying to save up for travelling (while still budgeting for clothes and make up, of course :p), but when i eventually move out one day, i hope i'll manage to live debt free and creatively too. plus, i think staying in is just as much fun as going out too. i feel sorry for people who can't enjoy their own company.

  • thank you so much for making this video! I am turing 18 in this Feb, and while I am going to be living with my parents for a while after that I have been thinking I should start learning to be self sufficient. I will keep this video in mind.

  • could you do some DIY videos?

could give us other tips (DIY, food,...)?

could teach us how to do a "great sell" on line (ebay)?

I really like yours tips, so I would like some more!!

    Thank you for this video!!

  • @TheLadyhoney Yes, I'd love to do more videos similar to this and DIY vids if everyone wants them! xo

  • Yeah I almost cry when I give over my notes :(

  • Love the Monroe poster. I'm a huge Monroe fan myself.

  • I was actually looking for ways to make a budget for myself today due to upcoming expenses. Your advice gave me some great tips and pointers. Thank you ever so much <3

  • She mentioned "haters".. I cant believe ppl would actually comment about someone's personal biz. Why cant ppl just watch a video and enjoy it instead of being jealous and making rude comments. I've seen alot of guru's make videos explaining themselves. I think its ridiculous.

  • This is really great advice-- especially for us Aussies!! Thanks for the vid :-) Our makeup, clothes, jewellery & shoes are quite expensive here in Australia, compared to other countries (i.e.: USA and UK), which means we need to be more careful with our money. But it is important to save & spend wisely as you mentioned^^. I agree with the credit card issue, although in some situations it is wise to have a credit card just in case. Thank you for recommending those books too! x

  • I love you :), I'll try my best to save money however, I will never ever get a credit card, never had one never will, I work, I save lunch money by bringing my own lunch to school, the money saved goes to my NYC trip next year :) and also, Uni :D

  • great tips xxx

  • great 'stuff' to think about - the advice are completely practical deff. gonna put some into practice! thanx for sharing!

  • Oh my God! The shoes look awesome!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Where is your top from? Love your videos!

  • @ashleigh2991 It's a dress! Just a cheapie from Dotti. x

  • THIS WAS GREAT.THANK YOU.

  • Out of the hundreds of beauty gurus that I've come across, you are the first to do a video of this sort. It makes me feel like you're a straightforward and honest person. Most people ask how gurus afford their stuff because they want to know if it's something that's possible for them. Most gurus end up acting offended and saying that it is no one's business how they make their money. Thank you for this video, you rock. :)

  • @msfistfightsvsfences I'm so glad everyone responded so well to this video! I'm more than happy to share things like this with my viewers :)

  • Definitely agree that wish lists are the way to go, that way you give yourself time to think about whether you really want it or if it's just a passing fancy. I also think too many people spend way too much on groceries by not planning their food and going to the supermarket to do "little" shops 3-4 times a week.

  • I'm about 30 seconds in and I can't stop staring at your eye makeup! Holy intense haha!! But I agree, good advice! Not a lot of 'gurus' so to speak provide helpful advice like this.

  • good advice.
