@BriSchwa82 Thanks! I have seen the entire tournament. It is on here courtesy of thewhammy83. It is missing the first 5 preliminary matches, but it shows the last 3 preliminaries plus all the Quarterfinal games Semifinal Games and the Final Match. Outstanding tournament.
Just for your information, thewhammy83 on his channel has uploaded the $1,000,000 Tournament of Champions that was on GSN Saturday Night. They have from almost the beginning to almost the end of the quarterfinal round. I am pretty sure he will upload the rest of the tournament soon. Just thought I would let you know. And my congratulations to you uncle Robby for winning the tournamernt and I want to say that this is my favorite game show and this is the 1st time I have ever seen this tournament.
Appreciate the answer. Really looking forward to seeing it. Will bring back alot of memories for me as this was my favorite show when I was young. Thanks again!
I know it, the only time I saw the syndicated show of this was when GSN did the 50 greatest game shows of all time, they need to bring this show back, I like it as well.
$1 million was the total purse of the tournament, with the winner receiving half and the other half divided among the remaining 15 players depending on how well they did.
The winner got half that prize..yes (meaning $250K+$250K for the charity of their choice, in Rob's case, the March of Dimes. The runner-up got $200,000 (half of that going to charity, in this case, Big Brothers Big Sisters). But no matter where they finished, half of each tournament participant's winnings went to charity.
YOU WIN FIVE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!

I like how they used the "Break The Bank" theme music when he won it all. Hard to hear, but it's there.

isn't that the break the bank theme playing?

Question...did he have to win a three out of five match to win the money? Or did he have to win just one game? I can't remember. Thanks!
richie19190 2 years ago
It was three out of five games, Rob won three straight!
SaleGuy 2 years ago
@richie19190 It was a 3 out of 5 game match and he won 3 straight.

I believe this was the $1,000,000 Tournament, and THAT should have been the top prize, not the half-mil.

When was the last Tournament of Champions competed on The Joker's Wild?
richie19190 3 years ago
There might have been another TOC after this one, I have it recorded somewhere and I'll try to find it and put it on here. Thanks so much!

richie19190 3 years ago
Nope, after this tournament was done..that was it. They didn't do any more TOC's due to winnings cap limitations.
gameshowguy2000 3 years ago
THIS was it, for some reason.

Was he the biggest game show winner of the time?
nextbarker 3 years ago
yes he was
jhzenor61481 3 years ago
Yes if you include both regular game play and tournament of champion play. If regular game play is your only criteria, however, then no he was not.

Yes. Sorry about the history before he wins $500,000 and it rains confetti and balloons.

WHEN IN THE 1980S?
floridapanthersroar 3 years ago
I think 1980 I'm not sure when this show was taped.
jhzenor61481 3 years ago
It would be 1980. In 1977 the top prize in the TOC was $50K, then $100K in '78 and $250K in '79.
gameshowguy2000 3 years ago
Notice the Break the Bank 1970's theme music played to celebrate the champion's victory

This should have been the TJW $1,000,000,000 and Griffin should have won $500,000,000!!!!

That was the 80's.

How far did Hal Shear make it in this tournament? I might have thought he would've won, oh well.
vintagetv 3 years ago
I think Hal Shear was on for a few shows until he was beaten, I'll have to go back and find out.
