This has to be one of the best done Let's Play series I've ever watched. I appreciate that you take a very serious tone with these videos, and try to immerse the viewer in the whole experience. My hat off to you, sir. Bravo.
I just got started watching this series, and I have to say bravo. You're definitely breathing life into this game! I remember playing it when it was given on a PC gaming magazine's sample CD with a bunch of other full games. Back then I had the patience to deal with its interface.
Sadly the game often referred to pages in its manual, which didn't come on the CD, so I missed out. Looking forward to the rest of this series. Thanks for doing it!
@EdwardHowton Hey, Edward. Thanks. Ha ha! You don't see that anymore: a single game doesn't even fit on a CD-ROM anymore. :P Thanks for the interest, and you're welcome!
@MegaCurieux Thanks, MegaCurieux. I have to warn you, though, that the quality declines as the series progresses, because I didn't realize how large this project was going to become when I started, but hopefully I learned for next time!
Rapid dog dies by the classic crowbar, but the crazed enraged boy is put down with a book? Is that the new way for the term, beat them with knowledge?
@YouNMe1 Thanks, Daniel. I didn't know you were a fan of these older games, if that's what you meant; but I definitely had Fallout fans in mind, when picking out music, etc.
What is this? An attempt at making a cohesive, flowing story out of a game where you brute force a bunch of commands together until you finally stumble across the right combination of events in order to progress in the story!? Not on my watch, Grandpa Tord! You can take your picture book with its perverse deviants, sit in your rocker, and take a nap for all I care.
It would be nice if you uploaded a morsel of original footage, just to showcase the... uh... funtimes you can have with this game.
@GrimithR Upload raw footage and spoil the surprise if somebody ventures to try the game for themselves? Nah... why ruin the fun of discovery? ;) But yeah, this series will likely mislead by inverting the ratio of combat to story. MikeBra99's actually got unedited gameplay in his Let's Play--appropriately accompanied by Slayer in the background! :D
I like the technique you adopted in fading the screen to black and white with a kind of soft *thunk* sound when pulling yourself out of in-game narrating to comment on some aspect of the design or story from an outside perspective.
On a completely unrelated topic, why does Lilly - who admittedly has a weakness for children - always seem to harm either them or their pets?
@Slythe01 Thanks, Slythe. A little cinematic technique to add a *tiny* bit of variety to an otherwise not-so-fancy looking game. ;) And I know! It's like a curse--she's destined to destroy the lives of children she encounters. I almost feel like it's... symbolic of something. ;)
@fattyacid6 Thanks, Matt. The pausing was just something you see a lot even in movies; going to black and white was an idea I got from... the Witcher? I *think* that games to black and white when you pause. I always thought it was neat!
Wow, this is unfolding into quite the intriguing adventure already. Much like how UltimaPlayer12 has already commented on, I can't say that I like how combat experience is awarded.
The conversation system is intriguing, although much like in Fallout, it seems like it could prove difficult to use if the correct keyword(s) are not given.
So soon into her mission, and Lady Black has already experienced some of her infamous bad luck.
@NS13Guardian The combat experience did lead to a bit to uneven leveling, especially with up-front melee fighters, since they actually get multiple attacks per round--and the higher level they are, the more attacks they get! So it was an issue that made itself worse as the game went on. And sometimes the dialogue system was pretty unforgiving--for example, if a person's name was expected, sometimse it would only recognize a first, last, or both names! :P Thanks, Guardian.
@mynameisnotlilly Oh, almost forgot, where did you get the sound effect for when you do the fade out? I have an idea and would like to use that sound or something similar ;)
@Revocane There's a lot of neat little things in the game world. The *only* complaint I could make, with regard to that, is that they're a bit disjoint and sometimes seem "out of left field"--but in some ways, it fits well with the wacky nature of the game! ;)
And now that I've 100% watched the movie, I must say, this game is awesome! What other game can you note that gives you so many options? I loved when you booked Bobby to death, and I find the game system interesting. it doesn't make 100% sense that the one who deals the killing blow is the only one who learns anything from combat, but it makes for interetsing gameplay, nontheless. I personally cannot wait for the next part ;)
@UltimaPlayer12 Fallout almost does--you can apply skills and equipment to any element. You just can't apply basic attributes like strength, intelligence, etc.; but it's neat, because, say, you don't have any training with the Confidence skill with an NPC--then you can still try Charisma (what the Confidence skill is based on). Keen eyes, by the way, with the heart-shaped lake, Devon. Glad you're looking forward to the next part. :)
@mynameisnotlilly True, true, but then again Fallout doesn't seem to have as many options until you really get into the game. That may be what keeps me from ever progressing... or it could be the part of the game where it goes "This is where you go" then about 10 minutes later "Ok. You're done. Find something else" it just leaves me hanging. Putting that aside, thanks for the keen eye compliment, I just kinda noticed it when watching the video and it kept bugging me XD
@UltimaPlayer12 You know, it's funny, Devon! XD I'm glad, not only that you noticed the heart-shaped lake, but that you were *not* doing something else: reading game text. ;) I'm really worried anyone else watching is going to read game text and not watch the upper-half of the screen (character, dialogue, etc.)--it just won't be as enjoyable if they do.
@mynameisnotlilly Actually, I was half-watching the text. I spent about 2 minutes with it paused at one point to re-read a few things that I didn't notice the first time through.
This is truly exceeding my expectations so far!

mynameisnotlilly 6 months ago
@mynameisnotlilly Maybe I was confused but I thought it said that he was 28 feet? I probably just misunderstood.

@mynameisnotlilly It's just a misinterpretation of "Bobby appears at 28 feet."

People always say that games like Dead Space are so scary, but compared to seeing Rex snarling and dripping with blood, they're nothing!

@scarycrayons Somehow seeing a child beaten to death with a book sounds a lot more traumatic than a bloody dog or dead space
