Why do arenas leave the hockey boards up for basketball games? I always feel like I"m at a hockey arena at basketball games. The Staples Center is a big example of this.

@StanBennet Because often times the Kings and the Lakers will play in the same day, or within 48 hours. It takes way too much time to take them down, so they leave them up.

that thing wasn't on the floor this year. i hope they one day bring it back for teams that have yet to appear in the finals. i want to see how some of the currently bad teams center court logos look with the big trophy sticker on them once they get good again.

Well not exactly...the Clippers seating configuation actually DID hold about 600 more seats...but the Staples Center decided to back it down to 18,997 for both Clippers and Lakers games

In this video the basketball portion of the sticker looks like it overlaps the "r" in "center". A different sticker that doesn't overlap any of the letters appears to have been used last night and all three games of the 2008 NBA Finals.
