  • @Asummersdaydreamer14 That's okay - I have no idea how cricket works either, but they seemed happy :)

  • Where were the uniforms manufactured?

Where did the textile come from that the uniforms were made from?

What trees were cut to make those books?

Where is the mill that made the pulp for the paper?

  • @justdadance

Where was your computer manufactured that enabled you to leave this comment?

Where were your clothes that you were wearing when you left this comment made from?

Where was the gas in your car that you drove to work today from?

Why do you hold others to a higher standard than yourself?

  • Makes me so proud to be a Nerdifghter DFTBA

  • ww w. king ofweb. co m /users /222 3262701

This video has been put in a parodies category in a competition, getting tons of votes by someone else trying to get a voucher for adorama, is that right?!

  • @TheMadCatHouse I'm not running for King of the Web. But I know the guy you linked to. AFAIK he has offered to give his cash winnings to a donation to the Poor/Project fund. He's not the first to use the King of the Web contest to try and generate donations for worthy causes. But I'm not directly involved - you'll have to ask him.

  • @UnculturedProject What would he do with the gift voucher?

  • @TheMadCatHouse You'll have to ask him - but he's clearly stated on the site you linked me what he will be doing with cash prizes. Brandon is a friend of mine and so I personally will have a hard time believing he's trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. He is also not the first person to offer to donate some or all of the King of the Web cash prizes to a worthy cause (even this project has come up before).

  • John was right.

    I wept.

DFTBA! Will be following, of course ^_^ Good luck out there!

  • Am I the only one who cried a little but when I watched this? Projects like this really are awesome. The Nerdfighter community is amazing.

  • I have never been so proud to be a nerdfighter!

  • I literally just had to watch this to have faith in the world again :) I hope to do something similar in Thailand! Please keep up the awesome work xxx

  • I'm proud of you Shawn. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see more Western-raised Bangladeshis heading your path to do the same good work.

  • WHO DISLIKED THISS??!?!?!?!!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?

  • @MHM126 I know right...a bunch of haters

  • oooh goose bumps!

  • What the hell is wrong with people? Disliking this?

  • It really is heartwarming seeing all the help, people like you are doing for the world. :)

  • I am from Bangladesh and thank you for making a difference :)

  • @fingiie All the music here is by Hexachordal :) You can check out his youtube channel: @Hexachordal

  • Just seeing all their smiles, its unexplainable. You are making a difference in the world & this is beyond amazing! And to top it off, when I saw everyone making the nerdfighter sign = love <3 Nerdfighters are making the world a better place

  • Youtube is made for videos like this... in my opinion.

  • Simply awesome...

  • keep up the good work =)

  • LOOK AT THOSE PIMPS WITH THEIR POPPED COLLARS!!!

Its really funny seeing that trends that are popular and funny in the US are also in other parts of the world often unheard of. It really gives you a feeling of "Over-Soul" if you know that that means

  • I am in love with this video and cause. It makes me soo happy that people are willing to help others and make such a difference. :)

  • @UnculturedProject Of course and I didn't in any way mean to undermine the huge work you did here because I think it is absolutely wonderful and inspiring especially for the ones of us who would like to somehow "follow your footsteps". I understand what you are saying about what the school's admin wants to do and even though I think sports are a fantastic way for children to develop in a healthy way, it just seemed that they really needed some good light for hw doing..thanku for ur reply.

  • I love this one!

  • Impressive !

  • Wow, that was amazing. I am proud to be a Nerdfighter.

  • Hank Green was right; I did weep.

  • Awesome, he got accepted to Notre Dame. :O Way to go kid!

  • so glad I've had a chance to donate to this terrific work! Keep it up Shawn! - Jessie

  • u are such a wonderful person and derserve so much more audience!

  • so awesome man.....hoopy507

  • I think that what this project did was awesome, but why aren't there any girls going to the school too?

  • @1313furelise Hey that question came up for a few times. There are in fact girls at the school - but the orphanage attached to the school is single-sex and serves a minority community of tribal/indigenous people. Any student you see in a green and white uniform in the video is a girl. And girls get free tuition paid for by the government of Bangladesh.

  • This was freaking awesome!

  • I feel all fuzzy inside, and honestly, I am honored to call myself a Nerdfighter <3

  • I'm crying so hard right now

  • Dhunobad x10000 !! Khub bhalo kaj korchen apne(:

So basically, like, thanks, you are AMAZING.

  • this video brought me to tears. what you are doing is awesome.

  • So wonderful! When they were making the nerdfighter sign AH! I almost died!

I was wondering have you made any videos or done anything in Uganda? I have a pen pal from there and I was just curious :)

  • @LexiPexi15 Nope - I did something in Kenya though, but nowhere on the same scale as what I've been doing in Bangladesh.

  • @UnculturedProject What your doing is amazing, is there a PO box or address we can send our appreciation to you, and the kids? What you're doing is unbelievable, and I'm so glad you let us be a part of it by posting these videos, know that youtube is always behind you, Thank You Sean

  • @xtremegamer4696 Hey - unfortunately I don't have a PO Box. But it's also not easy to bring goods in and out of Bangladesh. Usually what I do is buy locally as often as possible in order to support local shopkeepers and businesses :) The only exception to that is if it's something technological in nature and/or something that hasn't developed a market for yet. But even then it's tricky.

  • Yes!!! Awesome!!!

Music is courtesy of Tom Milsom (aka. Hexachordal) check out his youtube channel!!!

  • the music in 4:13 is wonderful.

  • you are awesome!

*You are now subscribed to UnculturedProject*

  • you are awesome!

  • Okay, why is 1:06 to 1:35 so cinematically epic? It makes me want to do backflips in midair and then donate something.

Also, these people are amazing, and so are you. Thank you so much for everything.

  • @LunarSorceress And then 1:43 to 2:13! Yeah, it's just really awesome, because of your editing and their themness. Love it so much.

    Also, Nerdfighteria thanksyou for representing.

  • Wow. How amazing.

  • dharmarajika nerdfighters FTW!!!

  • This was so wonderful... thank you for doing what you do and showing us how awesome it is when we lend a hand.

    Best wishes

  • It always amazes how far donations can go, and how little things can make so many people so happy. Your initiative to help people is incredibly inspiring. :) And that little Nerdfighter touch is awesome. :D DFTBA

  • Wow um, so for the first half of the video, the only thing that kept me from weeping openly was Indigo.

Then I just lost it. DFTBA.

  • Wow. Just wow. It is things like this that make me so grateful for everything in my life.

  • What you''re doing is commendable.

I'm interested to know if you have covered or plan on covering the structural reasons for the existing poverty in Bangladesh and rest of the developing world. Because any assistance that help the downtrodden is great, but if we hope to create systemic change we should come to understand the processes which have led to the current situation, and the contemporary processes which perpetuate it.

  • Awesome vid! I think what you're doing is amazing!

  • This is amazing.

  • wow, that's so touching.. I wish everyone could see this video! :)

  • I like to think of myself as a person who is among a small, yet growing number of people awakening to animalistic and natural mindset (even though we have the webs, but that's another conversation) and I have to say that it really is the little things in life that make the biggest differences. Pens, paper, notebooks, uniforms and sports equipment; everything made all those children and everyone who cared for them so happy.

I appreciate the work you've done even if others don't.

    Good job!

  • This inspired me to join the Peace Corp.

  • Hank sent me through the link at the end of his last video. This was awesome!

  • the most lovely thing eva you guys sould be VERY proud of yourself

  • i love this video. I love this project. I love nerdfighteria.

  • I love your attitude! I'd love to do something like this..

  • Wow, that's amazing!

  • you are truly inspirational, what you've done is amazing. these kids looked so grateful for what we take for granted in america. you have a big heart and i hope to see more of this kind of thing in the world!

  • this gave me chills, it made me so happy that we were able to have such an effect on someones life so far away, thank you Shawn and don't forget to be awesome :)

  • I started crying while watching this. it completely touched my heart. what you guys do is amazing and you should be completely immersed in love for it! SO MUCH LOVE!!!!

  • If I could like this a million times, I would. I would love to get involved like this. Any tips for getting something this big off the ground?

  • @TerryEFV2 The more you're trying to give me a hard time the more you show how removed you are from the reality on the ground. There are many girl orphanages - my grandmother is on the board of governors on one of them in Bangladesh.

But this particular orphanage serves a community of poor from a tribal area called the Chittagong Hill-Tracts. It's very far from the city and it's a very tough journey. Families and relatives tend to only send boys to far off distant locations, not girls.

  • @TerryEFV2 And you're creating a false equivalency. Being a couple hundred dollars under budget maybe enough to buy a few balls - but it's not enough to create a girl orphanage from scratch. And, if you look at any of my other videos, I'm helping boys and girls, christian and muslim, buddhist and atheist - all in a pretty secular manner.

In fact, I even went to an area where it's a matriarchal society. In that community, I ended up helping more girls than boys. Have any more of a beef to pick?

  • No offense... but what does getting uniforms do to further their education?

Anyways, love the video. Love what you're doing.

  • @xGlassChild Good question. The top priority, from the headmaster, was geometry sets (for the higher level math students) and notebooks and pens for all grade-levels. But uniforms had a special place - which to outsiders may not seem important.

The school isn't just for orphans. It's a school that people have to pay to attend. It's also influenced from British colonial times & requires uniforms (just like most UK schools). Those without uniforms are automatically identified as poor & stick out

  • This is quite possibly the best thing I've ever seen. (:

    DFTBA

  • Shawn, thanks so much for all that you do. Your videos are so inspiring. DFTBA.

  • This is beautiful.

  • awesome awesome awesome! send those people our love! <3

    DFTBA

  • I do not have any money to give but this is truly awesome and has my full support. :D

  • @Ulindria Cool - thanks so much! This project isn't all about donations. People spreading the word and sharing the videos is just as (if not more) important.

  • how do i donate???

  • @crazyjoo There's a link on the channel page if you'd like to donate. It's uncultured(dot)com/donations

  • great, great video! sometimes it's so good to see what can happen when people with good intentions want it to happen. Go team Nerdfighters!

  • (Wow, I'm dumb. It wasn't working because I had a link)

love this video and I love your project, but I have a question. I haven’t read Jeffrey Sachs’ book yet (wish it was at my local library), but I’ve been looking at the reviews and I found this one interesting: dft*ba/-rethink

I wanted your opinion since I don’t actually know much about the different approaches to ending poverty. What’s better, a paradigm of aid or a paradigm of justice? At least in your opinion.

  • For some reason it's not letting me post the comment I'd like to make in here. :|

  • GO Dharmarajika NERDFIGHTERS! Wow, that was really lovely!

    DFTBA!

  • why don't i see any girls??

  • @weepingoldwillow haha - been answering that comment for a while now :) Bangladesh used to be a British colony. It was influenced by the British educational system which, back during colonial times, was segregated. But there are in fact girls at this school. Anyone you see wearing green and white is a girl. Girls, unlike boys, get free tuition paid for by the government. The hostel is single-sex (for obvious reasons).

  • @UnculturedProject thanks for responding that was really nice. If you hadn't i would still be walking around with a wrong assumption

  • How can anyone dislike this video????

  • i've watched this video everday since the 18th, and liked it everytime <3

  • i love this video so much, and i showed it to some friends of mine, expecting them to find it as amazing as i did. instead, they began watching and couple of minutes in said it was boring and tried to change it. shows how much some people care...

  • i fave'd :)

  • WOW. amazing, inspiring, and heartwarming. DFTBA

  • This makes me so proud to be a nerdfighter and see how you are using the spirit of nerfighteria to change the world. DFTBA.
