Oh Lord, as a person with ADD, low latent inhibition is a biiiiiiig deal. On the bright side, I get to be all paint-y and write-y and sculpt-a-papier-mache-turtle-b­ank-y; on the dim side, if someone down the hall is playing their music I get incredibly stressed and can't work, or sleep, or read, or anything, until it stops.

Now I understand why I'm feeling bad on lectures. I can't concentrate on two different things simultaneously. I have to listen and write at the same time. I've observed that if I make notes at a lecture, I can't remember anything that was on that lecture. If I dare to speak to someone, that's it, I wouldn't be able to understand anything, the lecture is over for me.

Interesting observation at 5:45. I use to refer to that good engineers needs to be holistic (see the big picture) and reductionist (see the details) at the very same time in order to do a good job. Psychologist has a name for this mental mode: slight autistic. ;-)

I also firmly believe in order to be a genius one need to be slight nuts, which explains the low number of genius - nobody want to be nuts. :-P No but seriously there will always be few genius and a lots of average - per definition..

@DrNjtp It changes how you think, how you process information, and how you filter information. You don't become a genius, you just think in new ways. If you combine your normal thoughts with thoughts when you have been smoking some reefer you will have a greater understanding overall. That's just my take on it.

@omgweeeeeee For reference I've had THC, JWH-018, LSD, DMT, 2CB/I coke, MDMA, methamphetamine, heroin among other opiates such as DHC, crack, and a number of of others like tramadol and effexor (very similar to each other) and modafinil etc etc. So I'm fairly familiar with the mind bending stuff hehe :P

@omgweeeeeee Coming at it from a medical view of things has helped me realise that I'm not actually so unhealthy for doing this stuff, by covering every possible angle from liver enzymes to dietary amino-acids (methionine is in egg whites and it's also used to bind to acetaminophen in overdoses to prevent liver damage) I've accounted for every detail of effexor and modafinil combo, and recent tests showed that not only was I right but that I have unusually high functioning kidneys and liver :o

@TheJmestar I should clarify: I've accounted for every detail that I posibbly could have since nobody fully understands the entire mechanism of those drugs' actions. And by unusually high that's because my basal metabolic rate is boosted - it's all neuro-endocrine stuff, primarily greater thyroid output from 100ug thyroxine (for reference I don't have a medical need for that but it does have some nootropic effects).

What is a genius? after the movie, genes does play role, brain has flexibility also, envronmental influences are there, many things contribute But I feel that a genius is not totally hardcoded. Human effort always plays a role in achieving landmarks.

I think, that everyone is a genius. We all have the same incredible brain that gets info and uses it. It's that every brain uses the info in a different way and maybe focusses on info like that of maths and leaves other things behind. In this case you can become a super mathematition and be bad in languages.

Or your brain will use almost all the info and doesn't focus. In this case you become an average man. But still a genius.

Is a genius simply a person with a well-wired brain? I think it important to establish ethical conduct between people of various intelligences or deficiencies; it easy to be swept away with great power, it important to adapt it to better affect in relation to diversity. There are feelings that accompany having or lacking power that need exploration.
