I never understood why women who give birth aren't allowed the epidural when they give birth instead of when they are waiting to become 10 Centimeter dilated.

@moviefreak1992 Because it involves inserting a large needle into the spinal column, which is an understandably delicate procedure. Women generally can't hold still through contractions when they get that far into labour. It is imperative that women lay completely still during the administration of an epidural.

@moviefreak1992 I can answer that for you. Because the epidural is meant to make the body numb from the waist down to alleviate the pain while the woman is in labor for hours, but when the mother is ready to give birth, the drugs would make it harder for her to push the baby out when she has no sensation at all. Hope that helps. :)

@tennisguy2012 Yeah, I love that scene too. But in order to not post whole episodes to not have them deleted right away, I had to cut out some scenes and well I chose the "I can't stand the sound of your voice during contractions" scene over the one with Paul's hand getting squeezed like crazy.
