  • Awesome jazz, TYVM!

  • This man, Donald Fagen, is a genius. A living legend. One of the greatest composers of music in the history of mankind.

  • @TheNicholas0202 Amen.

  • Bet you all didn't know that Chevy Chase started out as drummer with SD but didn't think they were going anywhere...

  • OH so nice. Masters. I can say no more just sit back and get lost.

  • Every Backing singers dream to tour with these guys and sing this stuff ..

  • Born in '67..... More like, way back when in '87, I was the dandy of ZBT......

  • Grandma Mary LOL

  • Oh Good Lord! Jon Herington just perfect!

  • perfect music

  • better than best ! That's music !!!!!!!

  • There was a time when Steely Dan never toured or performed live b'cuz originally all of their music was recorded by studio musicians with the 2 guys who wrote the music and lyrics doing the vocals and they had no regular band members. Thank goodness they finally got a band together!☺

  • As far as today's music industry is concerned, a song like this would be somewhat prophetic. The music today isn't as memberable as it was back then. The music Industry imploded circa 1989, and it never has recovered. Hey 19, That was Aretha Franklin; And most don't remember her much these days. Tragic!

  • Herington, Jon - Guitar Wizard!

  • luv this Sharon Haygood this is you

  • When my sister was nineteen she started dating a 37-year-old man. This song basically epitomizes their relationship...

  • Those are some fine ladies in the back!

  • These dude's are so, so, so cool.....

  • Donald Fagin is the man.. always cool.

  • Damn those guys were at each others throats.

  • 4:53

  • Too bad he messed his teeth up over the years from the tweek, and had to have implants..That messed his vocals up.And it made him cranky.

  • @DesertDigger1 Fagen did meth?

  • mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • hey say them 2 months ago....2011...they sound better live than cd...wow they still rock big time!!!!

  • Love when the song starts 26-34 (sec.) of the song his ask for more volume in his monitor

    LMAO too funny !!! :)

  • 45 people are actually 9.......

  • Can anyone tell me what this song is about?

  • @CaveGuy2008 like many of thier songs, its about a prostitute.

  • Comment removed

  • @CaveGuy2008 I thought it was about Aretha Franklin?

  • @CaveGuy2008 Donald occasionally changes it in shows to "That's Otis Redding ... King of Soul" Sometimes he has the fans sing it and he corrects it to the other.

  • Comment removed

  • @RayNDeere I guess he's giving recognition to all "soul" singers who paved the way for him......good man.....good to know he's very appreciative

  • Pure genius

  • She thinks I'm crazy but I'm just growin old truer words were never spoken the lyrics of Donald Fagan stay with you all week.

  • Man somebody had to do something aabout this music,it sounds awwful!!!

  • Hermoso!! Me siento tan bien escuchando este tema!. Gracias.

  • My favorite Steely Dan song. When my husband and I were just kids, I remember driving and blasting this song. Never gets old! Fantastic beat, great lyrics. Such a great trip down memory lane...

  • Twistin one up right now, Best music decade ever, '70's

  • On the headphones in a Boeing jet to Hawaii in 81. Great memory.

  • 0:23 can i have more voice in the monitors please. thanks

0:29 holy shit. too much. you've made me laugh and stuff up

    0:32 i guess it'll have to do

  • The Dan just seemed to get better with each album. A rare feet in the music bizz. Great stuff.

  • Ga lekker je reet wassen!!! kom op !!!!

  • Very good. I miss hearing you guys on the radio...getting old sucks...better than dying...but dang! At 57 I now understand what my Grandparents and parents meant about the "younger generation"...they just dont have a clue!

  • @mrarthurallen1 those in the younger generation that care about the study of music love SD, they're probably my favorite band in the world, we learn about real music from our parents not from the god-awful contemporary music industry. Becker and Fagen are the musician's musicians, a band's favorite band. studying their music is nearly as rapturous as hearing it.

  • @mrarthurallen1 hey kid! I'm 67, still diggin' it!!!

  • @mrarthurallen1 I am 20 years old and my friends and I love Steely Dan, I hope that this summer I will have a chance to see them in concert somewhere still sounding great

  • Que lindos recuerdos me trae esta tema en particualar!!!!!!!

  • first time I watched listened to steely dan, whats all the fuss about? i've listened/seen to better pub bands...

  • keith carlock.

  • cUERVO GOLD IS MEXICAN DUDE,AND STEEELY DAN IS FOREVER

  • 'retha franklin.......

  • Good, good, goooooodddddd !!!!!

  • Special kind of song! Everyboy call me crazy cause I love these guys! I say: you don't understand about cool music!

  • @FCESCO1 " Everyboy call me crazy cause I love these guys!"

    Naw, you're just growin' old....

  • Saw Steely Dan for the first time....first time I could tickets, in July 2011, lousy venue...Winstar but LOVED hearing them...couldn't see them for shit for $90...I can die happy now.

  • please take me along when you slide on..super stuff - this survives my soul even when I am growing old

  • gosh he's goood......

  • "She thinks I'm crazy; but I'm just growing old."

  • cuervo gold, fine colombian rite on

  • God, that cracks me up when Fagen starts chuckling at the beginning

  • Right on time! This is what music is all about. Horns, keys, amazing guitar solos, good coke... plus the backup vocalist on the left is sexy as hell. I'm not too keen on the whole trumpet/ trombone argument.. but what the hell. Rock on!

  • Knocked up

  • Who's the sound guy that blew him away with his monitors enough to make him giggle?

  • Beautiful music

  • steely dan is one of my greatest influences. Truly GREAT music

  • Disgusted look on his face at 0:34.

  • Clever bot brought me here.

  • Excuse me -- eh hem -- colombian.

  • Tha fine columbian...... yallo???

  • He sounds like shit here. Probably sick of the song too.

  • there was a concert in my area. i had tickets, but my sister had to have a fucking graduation party.

  • I've always loved this song whenever I'd hear it somewhere-- never knew the artists' name. Just curious, what is "hey nineteen" referring to?

  • dang he still sounds the same

  • laid back old school.

  • This is the first time that i listen Steely Dan, i can't stop replay!

It's hard to see here in Brazil, but that's realy good!

  • @Renanclapton Check out Donald Fagen The Nightfly.

  • OBVIOUSLY A MAJOR MALFUNKTION ABOUT HIS MIKE NOT BEING CRANKED UP ENOUGH! AH IF ONLY LOOKS COULD KILL.

  • Fab! Many thanks. Wish they would come back to England, but not the O2!

  • this is so awsome that forty-two people went blind from the awsomeness and mistakenly clicked the dislike button

  • WOW! They sound amazingly like they did 30 years ago!! Better with age :)

  • great stuff....

  • Very awesome !!!

    Thanks !

  • Very impressed, he really took care of his voice.

  • Jeeez theses guys are steal great! Lead singer is awesome!!!!! Great sound......just like te 70"s. Miss thoses days!

  • My God they sound just like the first run I heard way back when?

    They were, are, GREAT!!!!!

  • FAGAN FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love the guitar player to this day!!

  • Another kick ass song from the kick ass band. They are great .

  • Listen, your land of USA sure is bless from God for having so great musicians like them here,I can't say here how many I like because I would need many pages!!!

  • @MrGianc Thank you sir,but that happened when we were a free nation.

I am sorry to say that the globalists and their puppet politicians are destroying this great nation

I believe in GOD and I think the book of Revelations is playing out right in front of our eyes.

    Hope you see it too.

    God Bless You

  • @doowaditti don't worry,be happy.. I know what you mean, globalisation you can't stop, the world will get togheter if we like or not. About puppet politicians I agree, they are just humans that play with mistakes without to know what they are doing. In the other hand,we have music, based on melody and harmony, which I believe is the most big contribution for a world of Peace! Think for a moment a "Life full of melody and Harmony",Take care and God bless you too

  • OMAHA, NEBRASKA...TONIGHT...I'M FREEEEEEEAKIN EXCITED~!

  • Never heard before of this man and his band but I know I missed a lot till now...they are GREAT! he got another fan. keep on playing!!!

  • The Cuervo Gold, the fine Colombian, make tonight a wonderful thing.

Back in the day, some of us truly knew and enjoyed the significance of that lyric.

  • @slmeucalesa1

Some of us still know, some of us still enjoy. :)

  • @slmeucalesa1 some of us still do......

  • those backup singers suck.

  • Walter jamming like the old days. Nice.

  • Fagan is a freak that I want to be so much

  • Steely Dan musicians are people at the top of their game.... the session elite....if yer gonna fly with The Dan, master your fretboard or stay the fuck home... respect to The Dan

  • Clearly "tequilla" was the key word to end the break..lol Love it..big fan..saw him in Danbury Connecticut of all places this summer..20 min away from me..couldn't ask for more. - Watched this post on here so many times, great live version

    .

  • awesome!

  • Ha, ha, nice musical argument. Love this performance.

  • I also caught these guys in Tuscaloosa last Saturday night. Smoking hot! Deacon Blues had a neat twist: when they got to the lyric, "Call Alabama the Crimson Tide", the audience went NUTS. I'm guessing if SD played anywhere near Auburn or Opelika, they very wisely dropped this gem from their set list!

  • The Dan nothing come close to real

  • Saw them in Bethlehem PA two weeks ago. A tighter band there ain't.

  • @gmhsmith Thats fer sure !!!

  • I saw them Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, and they were absolutely INCREDIBLE. They didn't miss a beat at all and it was pure magic.

  • I saw them in Louisville last wednesday and it was the best show and most talented musicians I've ever seen. I never thought that I saw Steely Dan and Fagan is a incredible band leader. More that expected and I expected a lot.

  • An example of superb MUSICIANSHIP.

  • they were bad asses then, and still are..

  • I love the album or CD, Gaucho! So awesome!

  • MOMMIE

  • Great video, great directing , way to go Donald and I am so in love with the woman in Pink...

  • They played in Dublin once, back in '97 I think. All the Irish Dan fans were there including me. Would be fantastic to see them return. One of the greatest bands of all time

  • @ Gauraonline...It's DONALD Fagen. Just sayin. I only know this because I'm in love with the man and his music, lol. It's the thought that counts. LONG LIVE STEELY DAN!!!

  • they should keep the camera on that backup singer lol

  • @fuckenmike I'm with you but a mudshark I hear !!!

  • superb!

  • Everybody's All American

  • I saw these guys in Brisbane, Australia back in 2007, and i tell you i haven't enjoyed anyone more live than these guys. They are truly the best, and the most underrated band of all time. I can't imagine anyone not liking them. So a huge hello to all my fellow Steely Dan fans.

  • What was Michael Fagen's musical back ground ? Did he study at Julliard or something ? I realize he assimilated many different styles as well. Very talented man

  • hermosa melodia y exelentes coristas

  • listen, I grew up on them and this is "pure" music people...one of the best "bands" EVER...

  • @randycchavez I couldn't agree with you more, and i'm so glad to know there are other people out there who have a love for these guys, and who can appreciate their unique style of music. They are my favourite band of all time.

  • Unreal...how can a band get this good...can't believe anyone who doesn't like them or says they were sellouts and played wimpy music. People's opinion's of music can be really sickening at times.

  • I never noticed until I saw this video but Donald Fagen looks like Ray Charles.

  • @Uuttsjs you're right. he's the white, sighted ray charles.

  • I heard this on the radio....and thought he was black. LOL

  • Last night. Tanglewood. Epic.

  • Greatstufftall! Wow!

  • First time I was able to get tickets to see them...at Winstar Casino...lousy venue, 9 rows from stage and still couldn't see. Best, tightest concert I've ever seen however.

  • ...I have a mid-life crush on that back up singer!...hope she'll friend me...

  • If what I saw on the 16th means anything, the rants about the name of the Tequila gets longer every tour. Walter went on for a good five minutes talking about being drunk in a crappy bar backroom and trying to get transcendentally drunk with what little cash you haven't wasted, and returning to a long and sleazy relationship.

  • @wikieditspam yeah the back up singer in the blue is very easy on the eyes!

  • @Jordi1962able . Yes, and if I'm not mistaken, it's Carolyn Leonhart (her husband, unfortunately, is Michael Leonhart the trumpet player) , and she ain't just easy on the eye, she's smokin' hot (as always) !!

  • this song brings back memories for me the early 80's were a great time.

  • minnesota state fair end of august...wow

  • Just saw them to at the fox man it was great i happen to get tickets first row in orchistra pit tho it was awsome

  • Just saw them yesterday at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. They were so awesome.

  • PERFECTOOOO. DE LO MEJOR.

    JAZZZZ-SINFO

  • There are 39 asholes who viewed this vid.

  • I saw them last week at the Winstar at the Texas/Oklahoma border. They were, as always, great and unique! I was front row and it rocked.

  • Thumbs up if you're watching this after getting back from their live show! heh heh Shuffle Diplomacy Twenty-Eleven, kids!

  • saw them last night, 7/12/11, at the Brady Theatre in Tulsa. Fantastic, (although Walter seemed alittle weird)

  • @tennisbum1953 Fantastic indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a better place than the Brady.

  • @tennisbum1953 yes he was ..lol was a little dissapointed that no Black cow and Deacon Blues made it but the Brady is a treasure and these guys rock.

  • Thats fucking Funky

  • =D

  • One band i'd actually love to go and SIT to hear!

  • awesome band!1

  • That is the best-looking woman I have ever seen.

  • The concert in PTLD last night was Amazing!!!

  • Just got home from the concert here in Portland. OMG....pure power and tight tight tight. An amazing performance, great, sold out crowd and the best live performance i've seen in over a decade. Clearly the hardest working and best drummer i've ever seen. Oh man, what a great night. Happy 4th!!!!!

  • in tulsa in two weeksYes!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the greatest bands EVER!!

  • I'm going to see these guys in about 3 weeks!! I'm sure they'll deliver as good of a performance as this and I'm all pumped!

  • fagen is one funky jew, gotta love it

  • the "white ray charles"

  • Was housesitting years ago and came home one night just as the super surroundsound was playing this: a revelation. Make sure you hear it on a GOOD stereo some night. It'll wake up your ears in the best way.

  • "Sweet things from Boston, so young and tender........."...LOL. Love it.

  • My favourite part is when the ladies come in and sing "the Cuervo Gold, the fine columbian..."

  • fantastic

  • DONALD FAGAN FOR LIFE BABY!

  • steely dan meets peanuts...

  • This is wonderful

  • 36 people don't know how to make tonight a wonderful thing.

  • saw this at aintree 2006, top night, top band

  • The best freak en performance anywhere.

  • Thanks for posting this...I can't believe how much is available on YouTube...I have been up WAY past my bedtime, watching Dan videos...thanks for this one...best band on the planet!
