Science usually discourages human motivation or emotion being in animals?

I wouldn't say that, there's actually been scientific research done that's more or less proven canines and other animals of similar intelligence levels experience emotions to some degree, probably nowhere near as strongly as we do... but I'd say strongly enough.

Sea turtles will save your life if you get up close to them on the sand, promise. They have magical powers. Such a good story -- they deserve more attention.
