Well anything straight piped is too loud for my liking. I have had this truck straight piped before with a single stack, and I couldn't even hear myself think. I have also chopped up a good exhaust to a stack setup then back to regular exhaust. Unless you can really do the job right, just buy a totally new exhaust system. Just my opinion.
@Erock509 does the exhaust stop smoking after you drive a few blocks or does it always smoke since there's no cat? also do you think cat back or turbp back is better in terms of power/fuel economy?
hey. i just bought the filter back exhaust for my 6.7 cummins..it will sound a lot like this wont it? obviously it wont sound exactly since mine will stil have the filter on it but i just wanna know if it will sound remotely the same. thanks
It all depends on the manufacturer of the exhaust. Each one may sound very different dependent upon mufflers, filter back, turbo back, cat back etc... I have no experience myself with the 6.7's, but from what I've been told the filter back exhaust is much quieter, which makes sense from all the stock components still being present. Anyway I'm sure it will sound great, its a Cummins right.
My system just came and i opened the box and there was no muffler. Did your system come with muffler when you bought it or was this without a muffler? I bought it straight from MBRP too.
this is a false statement. i installed the exhaust and it sounds pretty much like this does not quite as loud. i dont want to void out my warranty by taking the filter off and im not gonna take it off and put it back on every time i need to take it to the shop for somethin just so my warranty is still valid
Ok. Post a video of your filter back. All a filter back does is well, nothing. Some come as a muffler delete which does nothing really because the stock muffler is worthless. Not trying to be a jerk but I'm just saying.
I have had so many, at the time this video was taken I'm not real sure. I think it was a Bullydog. Right now I have a Smarty and TST stack. Go to EAPerformanceParts we carry many tuners/programmers. If you don't see something listed, just send us a parts request.
I never noticed any loss because I've always had some type of programmer or box plus others mods. If there was a loss I dont think it was big enough to notice. There was a difference with lower egt's and much better air flow. Overall it was a positive change. Hope this helps.
Yes mine is an auto. Ive upgraded my tranny due to me going to truck pulls and just wanting to have fun. Its not that the tranny cant handle the cummins, its that the trannys are the weak point to begin with. When u start adding hp, the stock tranny parts cant handle it. A stock truck would be just fine with a stock tranny.
Haa, I don't even have this exhaust setup anymore. Now I have a single black powdercoat stack, with a few more mods too. I'll post a new video soon and with much more black death.
Funny you should ask. Just recently been having tranny problems, but I knew it would come eventually. Gonna beef it up a lil, prob start with a new valve body.
truck sounds pretty good man. i got a 5" turbo back motoblue pipe w/ 6" tip coming, supposed to be here mid next week cant wait to see how it does with my bully dog air box
The kit was a turbo back, the entire stock exhaust system was removed and replaced with the MBRP. The cat was removed and a new MBRP muffler was installed.
One more question, how good is that programmer? R U using the stock torque converter and tranny? I heard programmers tear up stock trannys. Is it true? Try to get a video of the cab while driving if its not too much trouble.
So far the Bully Dog is great, no problems at all. My tranny is all stock and holding up, but who knows for how long. Thats the only draw back with the dodges, is the tranny. As far as tearing up the tranny, you just gotta be careful and not be too hard on it. Ill see about the vid
The performance was much better, noticed better throttle response high end, lower egt's, and a few others. I installed a bully dog, the exhaust, and Banks air intake at the same time, so not really sure of individual results. Overall its great, no complaints. The sound inside is def not stock, but if you keep off it, not a bother at all.
When you say "keep off it" are you refering to the throttle? I also heard that to have a 5 inch, you need to at least have an aftermarket intake and programmer. Is it true? If it is, I might just get a straight pipe or a high flow muffler. You know if those are loud in the cab?
Yes I was refering to the throttle. I wouldnt think you need an intake and programmer to have a 5" exhaust, its just better if you have it with those so the truck can breath better and have lower egt's.
Nice truck and exhaust. It lookis nice. Hows it sound on the highway with the windows up? Is it loud or does it drone? I want to get that exhaust but I;m not sure if I should get it because I still wants a quiet ride.
Sounds good on the highway, not too loud at all. Just gets louder at 80+, but still imo not too loud. Overall, when you accelerate its loud but sounds good, when the truck goes into od and levels out you can hardly hear it.

Dude a filter back will literally do NOTHING for a 6.7. You need a programmer and turbo back exhaust.

With the bully dog, can you uninstall it so it wont mess with your warranty if you ever take it back to the dealer for something?

Yes you can reprogram it back to stock so the bully dog only acts as gauges and you cannot adjust the hp settings.
