after playing demons souls i bought dragon age. there was such a difference in fun that i quit playing before the first blight battle and didn't pick it up again for 3 months

The Origin storys were cool and for a Hack-N-Slash RPG I think it's a solid game, I'm not big on Hack-N-Slash but I enjoyed DA... but if you're looking for a real challenge go for Demon's Souls. Most definitely. This game even today still has MASSIVE traffic online, and the servers are going to be running until at least march 2011 its fairly cheap now i think. I have so far spent 100 or so hours into this game and still haven't beat it my second time around. this game will suck you in once you pick it up you'll find that it is fairly difficult. It's sad that the dev supposedly doesn't want to make a sequel

eh, I'd say that the physics engine is the worst part of the game, but I wouldn't say it really makes it any harder. Excluding possibly using the short cut by falling down the shaft in 2-2.

I enjoyed the game. Played till lvl 216 , no one is ever online for me to pvp anymore :( maybe because it is too early of a release. too many noobs. Games too easy , it does take skills but I love the pvp. All That is fun now is to lvl up to 70 and pvp lol

there would be Demon's Souls without Oblivion..... Oblivion paved the way. Actually, most of the ideas inventory, magic uses, etc... all come from Oblivion. Deal with that! lol
not in the way they are selected upgraded, listed, etc..... Morrowind and Oblivion paved the way. Final Fantasy's and other RPG's are done in the same fashion.
and Demon's Souls isnt a true RPG. No matter how you look at it, its a very linear point A to point B kind of game. Really, Oblivion and Demons Souls are nothing alike in gameplay aspect......
Actually, the idea of inventory and magic comes from back before video games were ever created. Dungeons and Dragons (The tabletop) would be a good example.

yes you can lock on to enemies. its real time combat done right in an rpg. yes its difficult but you will figure it out. controls are great unlike most rpg's. much better than monster hunter
This game is for fans of hardcore games ONLY. You will die in this game and it will be aggravating. There will be times when you never want to play this game again. And with all that being said its the best game I've played in a long time.
if you have ps3 and are a rpg fan. DEMON's SOULS. while Dragon Age is going to be sick also, this is a one of a kind game you wont play anywhere else. highly reccomended

I think the difficulty is good. It's hard when you first start out, and you will die. But as you play the game it gets easier. And some times you will hit a wall, but you can get pass it with some work. And it feels really good when you beat a boss bigger and more powerful than you. If you have a PS3, it's one game you should get if you like RPG's.
there would be no fun or sense of accomplishment if they tunred down the difficulty. There are plenty of easy games out there. This game has the balls to kick you in yours.

Great quality vid BTW. But on the game. It doesn't look too interesting... Seems kind of linear as they have described it, the "ghosting" seems a bit annoying, and the game is an RPG. RPGs are inherently repetetive and bland. Cast spell, hack obstacle, kill creature, level up, kill boss.... Wash, rinse, repeat.

First, one should be on body form and the other should be in soul form.
Second, your level should no more than +10 or -10. ie. level 80, the other should be either lvl 90 or lvl 70
Third, the boss on that stage should still be alive.

umm i think this game is great its got all its own quality's people probably hate it because they get owned repeatedly but really that's what happens in this game you die a lot but on the other side you have kinda the MMO freedom like you don't have to continuously play the story you can take the time to lvl up and buy whatever you need so i think its awesome plus i play oblivion also i don't honestly think either of the games are alike in really any way other then the era i suppose

GREAT GAME.
In this game, character do level up AFTER you beat the first boss.
but when you realize... it is actually YOU, the player, are the one who actually leveled up...
i realized it after i beat this game and play this game with new character... it became so EASY...
if you hate this game. it's not because game is broken.. it's your skill that is broken..

there would be Demon's Souls without Oblivion..... Oblivion paved the way. Actually, most of the ideas inventory, magic uses, etc... all come from Oblivion. Deal with that! lol

not in the way they are selected upgraded, listed, etc..... Morrowind and Oblivion paved the way. Final Fantasy's and other RPG's are done in the same fashion.
and Demon's Souls isnt a true RPG. No matter how you look at it, its a very linear point A to point B kind of game. Really, Oblivion and Demons Souls are nothing alike in gameplay aspect......

The gameplay of Demons Souls is about 20 times better than oblivion.
In terms of RPG elements they about equal, get spells lvl up and upgrade gear.
About liberty of choice oblivion is a clear winner.

Actually, the idea of inventory and magic comes from back before video games were ever created. Dungeons and Dragons (The tabletop) would be a good example.

yes you can lock on to enemies. its real time combat done right in an rpg. yes its difficult but you will figure it out. controls are great unlike most rpg's. much better than monster hunter

This game is for fans of hardcore games ONLY. You will die in this game and it will be aggravating. There will be times when you never want to play this game again. And with all that being said its the best game I've played in a long time.

if you have ps3 and are a rpg fan. DEMON's SOULS. while Dragon Age is going to be sick also, this is a one of a kind game you wont play anywhere else. highly reccomended

renting would be a waste. if you like RPG's and a challenge this is for you. if you like spawning and easy games look elsewhere. deep rpg features great online elements and slick controls/combat make this a must own. renting will not give you enough time to learn this game. it has been said you learn this game by dying.

For anyone who has played this. Is the difficulty a good aspect of the game? Would it be more fun if they turned down the difficulty or is that one of the bright parts of it. I really want to get this game, but people tell me its ridiculously hard.

I think the difficulty is good. It's hard when you first start out, and you will die. But as you play the game it gets easier. And some times you will hit a wall, but you can get pass it with some work. And it feels really good when you beat a boss bigger and more powerful than you. If you have a PS3, it's one game you should get if you like RPG's.

Great quality vid BTW. But on the game. It doesn't look too interesting... Seems kind of linear as they have described it, the "ghosting" seems a bit annoying, and the game is an RPG. RPGs are inherently repetetive and bland. Cast spell, hack obstacle, kill creature, level up, kill boss.... Wash, rinse, repeat.
