Why does this sound so triggered to me? Is it? Or does he actually beat the drums with the exact same force, exactly at the same spot every single stroke??

the next person that says that heavy metal musicians just create 'noise' they can listen to this and eat their fucking words....man i hate pop!!!! lol
Since everyone is talking about his double bassing... I'm trying to learn to play with his kind of power and accuracy on the pedal. He sounds like he uses triggers, but I know he doesn't. To start out learning to play on the pedals like Chris, I've been playing Pathetic from this album. If anyone has advice on how to strengthen my double bass playing - in volume, dynamic balance, accuracy, speed or all of the above - reply to this comment. : )
i would recommend purchasing derek roddy's book "evolution of blast beats" it helps with alot of double bass and other metal drumming stuff aside from blast beats. Also if you want volume practice hitting hard, and start slow dont try to practice everything fast it doesnt workout to well, but that book will get you pretty far. AND USE A METRONOME!!!!!!!!!
Practice. You are probably sick of hearing it, I know I am, but it's the only thing that helps. Start of slow on one pedal, then slowly increase speed.
another thing i did to boost my double bass with timing too bc i only used one pedal before was to lift my foot up higher. its easier for me to be accurate when i lift my foot up in the air..
Dude rap is a bunch of computerized horseshit, rap today is garbage, the artist are all fake, talk about hoes and clubs and shit, if there was ever a REAL rapper it was Tupac he talked about life.
look into the underground movement like Living Legends, CunninLynguists, Deltron 3030, Blackalicious, Jedi Mind Tricks, and among others who focus on lyrics and giving out a message or are just having fun. The mainstream is complete bullshit right now and everyone should turn off their radios and listen to the real artist underground
people who actually go fast use triggers and mics at the same time. chris is right though, most triggers misfire all the time after extended use... many just plain misfire. sucks. what the extreme guys do, is use top-notch dynamic triggers, and mics... so that all the 8th and 16th notes have a more natural tone to them. chris doesnt need to use triggers anyway he isnt any faster than the low 200bpms with his band.
look at derek roddy's triggering setup... its wild and seems to work well.
i would guess he uses triggers cos theres no way a bass can sound like that and i reckon he does live. And most people use triggers too, so theres absolutely no shame.
But what i dont get is why drummers that use triggers have microphones hooked up too? can anybody help me out here?
I read an artical in "Drum" magizine where he said that he didn't use triggers cuz theres alot of stuff going on in a live setting and he doesn't wanna worry about triggers screwing up! He says he has nothing against them, its just his personal choice. And in a really good studio, you can make the bass drums sound really good like it does here! And I'm not sure where you got the idea that they use mics and triggers at the same time, cuz I've never seen that anywhere...
he dosnt use trigers but to get that "triger" sound i use a Sennheiser e902 and a sm57. its all mic position. then i compres and bamm. kick ass kicks :P
How the hell did they get that kick sound? It can't be just one mic'd sound, although I've never seen chris using triggers. By far my favorite kick sound ever created.
watch the batter side of his kick drum. i assure you, no triggers. mapex is a very nice drum kit. personally, i am a tama person, but mapex is a close second.
Who ever told you that Tama sucks is a dumbass. Imo they make the best drums out there. And not just the drums, hardware too. Iron Cobra's are the fucking shit and all the cymbal stands are sturdy and reliable.
DW makes some really good drums and even better hardware but pacific is made for the drummer that cant afford all the expensive DW shit, like me. All pacific stuff is made by DW. All my cymbal stands right now are pacific and my 1st double bass pedal was a pacific. It was a good pedal
lool i know that tama make good hardware i know that but i dont really have tama hardware and i want the iron cobra pedals or the DW 800 i know that DW do all the pacifics i have the MX fusion kit green smerald satin finish and its pretty good some fool have a dw and i didnt like the sound more than mine :D and stand mm well i have pacific , pearl, sound percursion, lol, but the shit is that only with my pearl stand i can tight the cymbal and i have it for my ride its 900
@alexdrumstickboy dw and pearl focus more money on advertising then they do on their drums. tama puts more money into making them, therefore tama is a really good drum line compared to others. :)
You guys are idiots. Chris adler DOES TRIGGER HIS DRUMS. He sound replaces his whole kit. I know that for a fact because he said so himself. Learn your shit before you mouth off!!!
triggers are electronic sensors on the bass drum to help with sound and enable people to go fast without hitting the drum very hard. with triggers you can hit the bass drum not hard at all and still get the same sound. theyre mainly used in death metal with bands like cannibal corpse and nile.

dude where did you hear this from? i spoke to him personally when he came to perth about this and he 100% assured me he didnt use triggers. everyone the drumsound is amazing because they spent a huge amount of money recording and used a drum studio specifically for drums.

he doesnt use trigs man. 100% sure. what he does isnt fast enuf to think that anyways. I dont know why people are always talking shit about LOG. All around they are the the most musically talented band out there and Chris is top 3 in metal drummers. He may not be the fastest but is one of the most innovative and clean drummers.
you obviously know absolutely nothing about drumming...or music for that matter. and you probably play the kazoo you dumbass. Chris Adler doesn't use triggers, every drummer who's even touches a double bass set could tell you that. everything he can do is due to hard practice and pure control over his whole set. so go back to whatever baby-pop band you came from and you might as well just shit on a plate and hit it with some sticks b/c that will sound better then whatever you can play.
