  • I love this video, what a beautiful animal the Serval is.

  • Tropical Paradise by CKJPol

  • not all hybrids r bad the savannah its the nicist cat to own servals in some ways r different they r possessive loyal as long as dont leave it by itself and is very defensive to the owner so other people cant go near it but there r rare servals u can but a wild serval should stay in the wild

  • iv never seen one of those before. every one gives so much attention to the leapords and tigers and lions... but the beautifull serval goes unoticed.

  • Servals do have a kind of odd look, when you think of it -- small head on a big body.

I have also heard that when a serval hisses, it's not necessarily a threat unless its ears are folded when it hisses. Is that true?

  • Lol, 1:06 he's looking back like " dude, you are messing up my camo!"

  • they look rather cute but they are like any wild animal dangerous

  • ive seen two wild cats in my life in norcal. id rather run into a domesticated cat in my yard then a wild one. one of the wild cats stole 2 sheep the first two days we had them. after this was reported to the animal controll they called trappers which in turn if they winde up catching the cat would put it down or give it to a zoo or a "rescue center" whats the difference.

  • Shining the light on it while it's trying to hunt, nice.

  • Love the big ears

  • It will go extinct with guys like you chasing them around with spot lights at night and talking out loud with their super big ears listening to every word. The cat's looking at you saying STFU I'm trying to hunt and get that damn light out of my eyes!

  • Dude, you might want to turn off your light house, I think the Serval was giving you the evil eye. The light shining right on him sort of gives away his position, lol. Serval says, " Dude, really, turn your god damn light off! "

  • what is the actual name of this cat??

  • Is That A Savanna Cat?

  • no, its the african serval. it is one of the cats used to breed savannah cats.

  • Ooh

  • I might think a caracal also can be one of the cats used to breed savannah cats.

  • by definition, a savannah cat is a cross between a serval and a house cat.

you could use a caracal to breed other hybrids though.

  • Great. video. Ironic that in the USA today, there are people selling and breeding these cats, then most find out later how wrong they were to try and capture these wild animals. They make awful pets and should be kept in the wild.

  • i heard they were good pets...

  • no i have a f1 jungle cat it's a great pet...

  • Actually, one of the reasons these cats (as opposed to the caracal or others) was as the wild half of the savannah is that they take well to people and make good pets (most non-demestic felines don't). When raised by humans they tend to be very dog like -- they will fetch swim, and are fanatically loyal.

  • Great video, but i think that the Seval is getting kinda piss-off he/she? keeps looking at the light and kinda thinking "Get that F*#King light off me so i can hunt" LoL

  • no its ears make of for head size lol

  • it has a small head

  • good job mother nature

  • Lovely video. Thanks for posting. :-)

  • Go ahead, prove me wrong...what's that? You can't?

  • Dude, you have the worst grammar I've ever heard! Learn to speak English, in particular plural conjugation..."large ears...they're going to use THAT..." Try "use THOSE" as in 'those ears'! Sorry but I can't take you seriously if you can't speak properly.

  • dgreener, you wanna-be grammar nazi. You are such a robot you don't even understand the usage of "that" is referring to the possession of the ears, NOT to the ears themselves. Therefore - singular.

It's like saying, "She has a great body. She's going to use *that* as her ticket to modeling school."

Go back to whistling, and leave grammar to the big folks.

And learn some manners while you're at it.

  • You just made my point for me, thanks! He says..."...see those large ears. they're going 'that' to listen..." I have no idea where you are getting 'the possession' of the ears from. You're as country as hillbilly game boy if you think you know what you're talking about. Unless he makes reference to the possession of the ears first (which he doesn't) he is referring to the ears themselves, which is why it is bad grammar.

  • I never interrupt when an fool is showing himself up. Please continue. :D

  • @dgreener1 u b a dum azz

  • The cat is prolly getting pissed. Hes trying to be stealthy and hes got this bright ass spotlight on him. xD

  • servals r gorgeous:) there one of my fav cats

  • young cheetah body + domestic cat head... :)

  • its pikachu

  • wow they are cool i've never even heard of them before

  • These are really neat cats! Are this cats trained to be house cats? Or were they made into a hybrid?

  • The cats shown here are 100% servals. One was a former pet and the other serval footage are wild servals living in Kenya. People will breed them with domestics to make hybrids. Search Wildcat Sanctuary and they have a lot of ifo on the hybrid cats and why we should protect the wild cats and not make more hybrids.

  • There are legitimate breeders of these animals which have been breeders for years, with only 1-3 females.

All animals are wild, and humans domesticate them. As long as boat loads of wild animals aren't coming over the seas, then work on not killing animals excessively for food and clothing, watching them at the circus (most are abused), and try shutting down a puppy mill or a kitty mill where those animals are treated like crap.

  • Everyone can have their point of view. But what I think is along with the things you mentioned for us to worry about, is also the overall idea that nature is out there for us to domesticate and then breed to sell. We have to first worry about true conservation/protection of all cats. For me the bad from the exotic pet trade out does the good. Even though only a few servals recently have been found roaming in neighborhoods, and some turned in to sanctuaries, it is a few too many for me.

  • I agree that one abused, mistreated, or used for profit animal is one too many. The length of both human and animal lives- (in my opinion) is much less important than the quality. I think suffering of living things is wrong. It is just like this; what I was trying to say is that us (humans) who "dominate" the earth... can do everyday things to help save any animal from suffering, including Servals, Fennec Foxes, and Boa Constrictors (that now have a population in Florida) and many other animals

  • Wow someone i actually agree with! I 100% agree with the "they arnt pets" deal. they are supposed to be wild. Im very young (13) and am against wild cats or any wild animal to be pets. its not right. but w/e. I wanna be a wild life rehabilitator. I wanna be one of those ppl that helps hurt exotic/wild animals and those orphaned animals get reintroduced back. thats my dream

sorry this comment is so long lol :] nice vid. i loves it

  • are they as fast as cheetahs? what is this snimals top speed?

  • Cheetahs are the fastest cats. Servals though, can jump very high to catch birds out of flight. As for running speed..for short distances maybe 30mph?

  • i have a f2 savannah cat that means my cats grandfather was a cerval, i know u dont support teh hybridization of this species, but imo they are the most affectionate cats money can buy, she just learnd how to fetch and retrieve at 8 months shes the size of a reguler male house cat

  • Thanks for watching the video. I am sure some f2,f3 etc..etc.. would be an ok pet for the right owner who would care for them for life. As with a lot of animals for pets. But for me it is the bigger picture of the large and out of control exotic pet market that we as people have failed in so many ways.

  • Amazing cat. I have seen them run...they are super fast !

  • I love cats so much - I want to lick this servals head real bad

  • a very nice conservation vidio i realy like the werk ppl are puting into helping these cats servive im just glad this cat isnt close to exstinction

  • Thanks. Yes, for now servals seem to be holding what little ground we set aside for them. All most cats need to survive is just enough protected land to have a good, healthy population.

  • cool cat =^..^=

  • is this bob cat ?

  • He said in the beginning it's a serval. Serval is also in the title.

  • OK! thx

  • not realy its more like a cross between a bob cat and a leapard

  • That cat is like, "WTF are you guys doing your messing up my night hunting!"

  • good hunters always catch the rats

  • It's so pretty. I'm glad God put cats here for me to enjoy.

  • god didn't. Natural selection did. Thank the right natural force.

  • That cat looks like he's going all "hey man, turn that shit off!", lol

  • I was unable to clearly hear where these shots were caught, except that it was in Kenya. What was the Conservancey/camp name? Is it close to LEWA?

    Thanks Brian, great shots.

  • *Filmed on location at the Olare Orok Conservancy- Kenya, Africa.

This place is south of Lewa closer to the border of Tanzania. Thanks for watching!

  • serval and ocelot are two felines very related to me, they are awesome as all cats. (love the vid)

  • Very related to you? Would you say you are in the same family? Lol

  • amazing creature

  • they sometimes get tripped up through the internets

  • they roam free on the internets :)

  • mmm it is a beautiful animal and indeed very rare. I hope to see one in real Life one day...
