To start this off, when i first saw this movie from the beginning when i saw the navi. For some reason in my head all i could think of black people. Even when the point when the caucasion people try to take there land, once again i thought of black people. But u telling me when u watch this movie, which was a good movie, u never thought of another race that the navi people represented. Honestly

It is not racist. It is about the Good "New Age Paganism" vs. the "Evil Strip-mining Big Corporation." About how Evil Corporations destroy the Earth and how getting in touch with "Mother Nature" will save us. All in all if you ignore the politics it is a good movie.

I'd also like to point out the one "white guy" that was a blue alien looks like he's Native american to me! For real go see the movie or at least get the bootleg if you dont want to support "old hollywood stereotypes" This whole controveresy is stupid. (cont) Im sure the racist undertones were intentional. It made the characters easy to understand becasue we all know(subconsciencously) and can identify with the plot of foreigners invading for natural resources. It was a easy way out to compensate for not developing characters with good script. Everyone who saw the movie fills in the missing info with all of their preconceived notions. Result...controversy! B/C we all have our own Ideas about what subliminal messages actually mean.

I dont think racism is the word for what is going on and frankly I do not think the word has been coined yet. Racism has much too powerful connotations. I have to aggree that that the movie is full of old hollywood stereotypes and it does not sit well with me at all. The fact that all heroes were white tells me that the director felt as if that is who audience could identify w/ in the situation because that is who he would see as the hero. I'm sure he never even considered thinking other wise
