  • If you're wondering why its a 10 stroke its because he's playing a single paradiddle off each hand with a double kick to offset the pattern each time through. (" RlrrLrllKK = 10 strokes combined amongst the limbs ")

  • how is it actually 10 strokes? looks like 6 to me.

  • i meant appreciate. my bad

  • appreicate all this stuff man. you have a gift for actually teaching and breaking it down, which is way different than being nasty without pedagogy. preciate you.

    dmv in the house

  • Just come across these vids!! Most inspiring drum vids ive seen in ages! This guy explains everything so well. He's God on the old pots n pans!!!

  • Hey folks, thanks for showing the love for the Videos. follow me on twitter @5agarnett. i can answer any questions you might have and let you know if im coming to your city, or a city near you.

    jerohn garnett here

  • @compa61 You mean he would make a better impression that way not "a lot more impression"...remember that part about talking properly. You have to be good on your end if you are going to correct someone.

    Thanks!

  • I always had good dynamics for a death metal drummer but I wish I would have started out playing gospel. Sounds amazing. Thank you for these.

  • Hey Jerohn, why not give us a brief history on yourself man. Aaron Spears has nothing on you dude.

  • ......

  • "paradiddles mayne.. get wit th paradiddles.."

  • i learnt how to play by myself, and i picked up these techs along the way, but never knew the application. this guy is d first to interpret them meaningfully enough for me. great help you've bro. thanx.

  • THAT GROOVE WAS BASED ON PARADIDDLES?? I did not even realize that! Thanks!

  • @coltrain210...YOU COULDN'T BE ANYMORE CORRECT. I can't wait until my brother, who's endorsed with SoulTone, makes a tutorial.

  • This guy is like a mixture of Bernard Purdie, Chris Rock and Jesus.

  • What type of pedal is he using.? And how do you gain such a strong foot?

  • Paradiddles are everything in the gospel drumming world. That and flams. Put those too together and you'll come up with a crazy arsenal of chops off those two alone. Lol!

  • Paradiddles are cruel .

  • This guy is COLD BLOODED!

  • He kinda reminds me of Bill Cosby...heh

  • Great video but seriously, stop saying alright!!!

  • @jonbraveman it's not alright, it's iiiighttt ..

  • dat boy know what he doin!

  • Always remember that there are sixteen 16th notes in the measure, if you are playing them all, so the sticking has to add up to sixteen to get you to one of next measure. Single paradiddle is 8 notes, add the diddle on the bass gives you 10 then you need six more notes to get you to one.

  • this lesson rules

  • Thanx once again, the kinda stuff I've been looking for. Thanx for breaking it down. God bless...

  • LMBOOO @ 8:25 - 8:30 #sootrue

  • Paradiddles cold blooded?! Yea you right dude!!!

  • Paradiddles Man!!!!! xD

  • thank you Jerohn Garnett !!!

  • @coltrain210

Dude i agree with you. I've bought DVDs with other guys and have found it a waste of money. Love this guy

  • i must say im learning a lot from you sir. thanks!

  • paradiddles man...

  • This paradiddle is cold blooded. This guy is funny. lol

  • Hey Jerohn thanks a lot for this. I was wondering, how did you learn how to play?

    Thanks

  • What I love most is that he has USED drum heads. So you know it isn't some dude on someone else's set that never gets used from some rich ass drum company. It is so real. And so..damn...groovy.

  • i'd love to have you as a teacher cause you seem to be very humorous and you teach like you were teaching kids:)

  • Thank you!!! Love the breakdown, clarity on making the points & the attitude! Can't say that for every "raw" drummer out there. Nice Jerohn!

  • I think you were born to teach!

  • doo doo baga bing

  • I had no idea that paradiddles sound that nice on a set... thanks Gospel Chops

  • @MSUFAN252 paradiddles are AWESOME! remember that! especially when you got the dynamics down and try playing them as triplets!

  • "Building blocks...to gospel chops" priceless LOL

  • thas a nice set

  • i like how you described the paradiddle as 'cold blooded'.. as in it cant be adapted to any situation :) very well explained, gave me some good ideas.
