We're not thinking in terms of hyper-dimensional physics. They are still thinking in flat linear space-time. Scientists also made the mistake of throwing out the idea of an aether after the Michaelson-Morley experiment. That just proved there was no luminiferous aether... Cristals do grow when voltage is applied and the give out V when force applied to them.

Judging by the looks of this Kowsky Frost Experiment (it appeared in a magazine in 1928) I would say it is a hoax, but until someone performs the experiments it's impossible to prove or disprove. I can believe the part about the expanding crystal lattice structure, but not the part about anti-gravity as much...

Canadian inventor John Hutchison has been experimenting with crystal induced anti-gravity since 1979 according to some. There are a couple of fascinating vids of him demonstrating the "Hutchison Effect "on Utube.
