  • Butlins what can i say, holiday camp for working people, red coats, blue coats, the pig and whistle, kids tucked up in bed,early moning call [ good morning campers]carbolic soap, uncle Boko, the freezing out door pool, and kids crying when the week was up, to go back home to the depressing excistance of the 1950s.

  • wow ...love this...i was there in 1974 as a six year old...won first prize in the fancy dress comp after my brother who was all dressed up to do it first changed his mind so i did it ..then won woooohoooo!!! i remember sitting in a huge hall where all the presentations took place and sitting next to another boy and telling him i was going to get one of the trophy's on display ..imagine my dismay being handed a £2 voucher lol what was a voucher to a 6 year old..till mum took me shopping with it

  • thanks for sharing the history. this is what i would love to relive again from when i was young in OZ camp. I had hoped to enjoy in the UK but sadly it is a disappearing saga. :(
