  • Hello! Great demo!

I've been planning on installing a Tone-Zone S (the single sized onde) on my strat (and perhaps a coil splitter switch), in order to make more versatile, but hearing that it will lose all that glassy tone that single coils tipically deliver, I've been afraid of killing my Fender's soul, you see, haha. So, if I may ask, did you notice any considerable loss of strat-like tone? Is it possible to keep that exact single coil tone by being able to split humbucker's coils?

    Thanx!

  • @helleeno With this guitar, it was the full size h'bucker with no coil tapping. Put it into position 2 on the switch and you get that perfect quacky Strat sound. However, I have tried similar rail pickups and noticed that when coil tapped, there is only a significant drop in output. But if you combine it with the middle pickup, you can get a classic, glassy Strat tone.

  • Why does it say fender on the headstock?

  • I've got a Chinese Squier Strat modded all to hell with a GFS H-S-S pickups & a Ritchie Blackmore style scalloped fretboard(not that I can play like him) - great sounding/playing guitar.

  • that's a fender my friend NOT! a squier ;-1

  • @kakabulle243 Yes this is a Mexican Fender, but it is also from their Squier series. There is a small Squier logo stamped on the headstock.

  • Mexi Squier???? Squiers are asian/indo made now. Before they were Japanese made... think mexis are just mexis.. squier means asian made... could be wrong..

  • @wedge070 It is a Mexican Fender, but it is part of their Squier series from some years ago.

  • Is it convenient put a dimarzio pick up in the bridge of my squier stratocaster standard? I read a lots of discussion about this...people said that it isn't but one of my friends that has a dimarzio on the bridge of his squier say that is convenient because it give at the guitar an aggressive sound.

    Help me please!

  • @Piconix It is very simple, if you don't feel confident enough to fit the pickup yourself take it to a local guitar store.

  • @Piconix a humbucker in the bridge position give a compleatly different sound,

it all depends what kind of music you like to play,

if you like the early Van Halen sound or simular it would be a good idea,

or if you play heavy metal, but for classic rock I actually prefer the singlecoil

it have a more old sound to it,

  • doesnt really look like hrd- looks more like a blues junior

  • OMG what are you playing at 4:40!!!!!!!!!!!!! omgomgomg i heard something like it before pls tell me!

  • @irockyouroll I was playing some Eric Johnson ideas I picked up from a Guitar Techniques magazine, and I finished up with some licks of my own. I'll do a video lesson soon and break down the different parts.

  • what are your amp and pedal settings?

  • @jacktheguitarman Amp settings: Clean vol = 2 1/2 Drive = 5 1/2 Treble = 5-6 Middle = 5-6 Bass = 4-5 Master = 2-3 Presence = 4-5

    Pedal: Drive all the way up, Tone 12 - 1 o'clock Level 12 o'clock

  • @testing123reviews i have a problem- when i play with my band- i have my hot rod turned up at about 5- i am also using the dis-1 and at a high volume it osunds really bad- how can i fix this. it just sounds really mushy and overall crappy

  • @jacktheguitarman Are you using it on the drive channel? If so, use it on the clean channel. The pedal will act as your channel 2.

That's what I did in this video.

  • @testing123reviews yeah im using it on the clean channel- but my volume on my clean channel is at 4- and when i use the pedal it sounds terrible. when i use it at a lower volume it sounds much better

  • how loud is your amp?

  • Congratulations! You just sold me on the Virtual Vintage for my upcoming upgrade.

  • @tjenkins83 Good to hear man, Dimarzio's are fantastic. :)

  • excellent demo and brilliant playing mate, rock on hard!!!!

  • @classic1852 Thanks man RAWK!!!

  • Um, that's a Fender MIM, not a Squier.

  • @metalcore929 Yes it is a Fender MIM, but the Mexican company released a Squier series of Fender Strats some years ago. Which is why this model has Squier written in a smaller font on the headstock.

  • taking the Finnish off leaves the wood exposed and it is more suseptible to moisture

  • @MegaFenderstrat That is true, but it plays really well.

  • Harry Potter.... xD

  • Too much talking man ... just play hahaha.

  • Awesome mods, I don't really understand replacing a real single coil with a Humbucker From Hell, but hey, it sounds good!

  • @oilpit Dimarzio wanted to create a super clean neck humbucker, having received complaints about how some pickups sound muddy. Its a really nice sounding pickup for bluesy playing and fast alternate picking runs.

Highly recommend checking out Dimarzio pickups.

  • Oh, I always thought it was meant to sound like a single coil....
