I was thinking that same thing, danieltian. Those boulders at 39 sec. don't appear in the game. This is a ROM, so it may not be a final version of the game. They must have changed thier minds and took that out.

Your partner affects your character's ability. Since partner Amy can't normally spin jump, neither can Sonic.

I've tried something like that before and I don't think its a glitch. When I tried something like this, which was before I saw this video, I held the R Button in midair just like you did but only used my partner's ability when I hit the ground.

If you pause before you release the tag action, then release R and jump before you unpause, after unpausing, you will jump and perform the tag action at the same time, giving you an even higher jump using this.

Sure, lets see...

1. You have to own the first version of Sonic advance 3

2. Choose Sonic and then choose amy as your partner.

3. Go to any stage (I choose Chaos Angel for the video)

4. Jump off a cliff and hold the R button

5. Die right before Amy gets into your hands (as seen on video)

6. After this you should be able to infinite jump with Amy as long as you hold the R button.
