Way too heated over mere opinion. Mass 2 is one of the best games I've ever played, but an adverse opinion is not something to raise blood pressure over.
Relax.
My big gripe with the second game is they took the balls out of biotics. I wouldn't know what they did with the other classes since I've played as Adept in both games and I'm only now starting to build an Infiltrator in Mass 1. There's also way too many squadmates for the sake of more characters, speaking of unnecessarily cluttered.
Two weeks after your fact but yeah, it's really just too much. Listing them all is Legion, Tali, Garrus, Miranda, Jacob, Thane, Samara, Grunt, Jack, Mordin and if you got the DLC packs you will also get Zaeed and Kasumi. That's a total of TWELVE people and I only use three to four interchanging. Biotics is near usless compared to ME1 x[ I find that every other class is much more "powerful" so I bring along biotic partners to do all that for me. Still love the game all the same though.
Couldn't agree more. I use different characters only when the storyline calls for it. A few examples being, when there's a Blue Suns mission i bring Zaeed; when I face Geth I bring Tali, bringing a Grunt/Mordin combo with me every time to Tuchanka, etc. Otherwise I'm bringing Garrus and whoever (usually Thane) on every mission.
And I basically have to build a new level 30 character before I do Insanity, because I can't use my level 30 Adept since Biotics suck in ME2. It blows.
The first time I playes as a soldier. it was so damn easy. Now I play as Adept on hard mode. This game requires so much tactics as long as you don't play one of the "tank" classes. I simply love it. Adept ftw. :D
@my89tube I do. Marketing. They can now say: "Action gamers from all genres can now enjoy Mass Effect 2, because it's so simplified and truncated." It's quite sad.
@iamturdrocket87 I know! I love action games as much as the next guy but mass effect 1 was a perfect blend of action and rpg elements. In the 2nd one they stripped out so fucking much of the rpg elements that it basically just became a shooter with okay gameplay and a good story/voice acting/etc.
@my89tube At least the best parts, the storytelling were still good. Hopefully ME3 will bring back more adaptive and free-form gameplay and class structure.
@my89tube thats a such a bullshit biased argument. ME2 perfected everything gameplay wise. cover system is more fluent, classes are actually classes this time unlike ME1 where every class besides the adept/engineer basically was just a mis match of a handfull of powers. this time each class has a individual power no other class has which drastically compliments its style. they got ride of everything that made ME1 annoying.
@my89tube because youre putting your expectations in the way, you want an rpg but thats not what mass effect was about, sure you can say it has leveling up, classes and management dutes, but what game these days doesnt. in ME1 everything except weapon management was a third person action game, in ME2 they took that out (good cause it was annoying, how many hours did you spend in ME1 just trying to give every in your squad the best weapons) and they upgraded the combat. ME2 is soo much better.
@IGNsucks Rofl there's no bias when it comes to a fucking opinion, especially in the case of me speaking about which game I liked more.
And you are wrong. Mass Effect is an action rpg. It is as much an rpg as it is an action game. You create an avatar, choose a class, level up abilities in that class, choose your own dialogue, and you can be good, bad, or somewhere in between as far as morality goes...Role Playing Game.
@my89tube yes but in the classic sense of the genre its an action game. I mean games these days have so many elements of so many genre its stupid to fault it based on expectation, which is what you did. and it is your opinion but you were still being unfair to the game by expecting it to be an rpg which isnt want the developers wanted. ME1 was more of an action rpg and all the rpg elements that involved weapon, upgrade and squad management was annoying and im happy they got rid of it.
@my89tube my point is that you insulted ME2 simply because the rpg elements werent what you expected especially since every other thing in the game was improved, specifically the gameplay which is what really counts.
@IGNsucks When a game is an RPG, its RPG elements are part of the gameplay. So my point is that your point is flawed. I know your comment is over 5 months old but I really could not resist. The things that were "improved" as you say were probably left just as well alone because I thought ME1 was much better.
@111BLACKLIGHTNING111 my comment isnt flawed at all. an RPG game is a ROLE PLAYING GAME. meaning you take on the role of someone you created. all the other stuff like items and upgrades is extra stuff which gets associated with rpg games. this game is an rpg game because your forging your own path with your own character. all the extra things were annoying like whenever i found a new weapon i would have to micromanage who would get it and take time. plus the gameplay was much improved
@IGNsucks Im so fucking done with you twelve year olds who generalize everything you say. You had to micromanage everything and "take time"? Well you dont have patience and thats your fault. Forging your own path? The game is very linear and theres only really 2 ways to do everything (REN/PARA). Ok you can use like 15 different powers and 5 different weapons. Gameplay is better? Mind explaining?
@IGNsucks "my point is that you insulted ME2 simply because the rpg elements werent what you expected especially since every other thing in the game was improved, specifically the gameplay which is what really counts." Your comment is flawed because you mentioned RPG elements as if they were not part of the "gameplay". Thats what Iam getting at. I dont need some technical explanation of what an RPG is. And no. All that "extra stuff" is officiallypart of the genre. whethr it makes sense ornot
@111BLACKLIGHTNING111 okay well i forgot what I wrote but still the second game was better. the gameplay was much improved. each class actually felt like a class where as in ME1 only the adept, engineer and soldier felt like classes the rest were just cross matches of those three. In ME2 all six classes have there own unique power with the other powers complimenting that power. all the elements they removed were just annoying in ME1.
@my89tube There were some elements in ME1 that i missed in ME2 mainly the exploration part. However apart from that ME2 is far to superior to ME1 both in terms of characters, story and gameplay. I certainly don't miss the mecho from ME1
@iamturdrocket87 Yeah, that's fucking brilliant. They made it harder to send people flying off cliffs and stuff because they knew that would be fun for action gamers. That makes total sense.
@iamturdrocket87 Amen to that. I thought i was the only one that DIDN'T consider ME2 to be better than ME1... And now that i've read that the ME3 delay was because they want it to be "a unique experience for ALL players" i'm pretty sure that it will be worse than the scond one...
@my89tube what the fuck are you talking about, ME2 perfected it. bending powers around corners, combination bonuses, they fucking made it even better. Fucking people can never be happy always have to complain. And they didnt streamline it at all in fact in ME2 there are even more combinations then the first one in terms of enemy resistance, powerc ombo effects. so much better. and they took all the crap that made ME1 annoying out. I beat ME1 4 times and ME2 6 times (2 as adept), ME2 is superior.
@my89tube Actually they didn't fuck it up. They just ballanced the game by not allowing biotics to work through shields and armors. Otherwise, it would be a walk in the freaking park to play as an adept
@ernestas111 Umm your obviously not very bright. Playing with ammo powers in ME2 isnt a walk in the park? What about the engineer class hmm? Your drone mops the fucking floor!
@111BLACKLIGHTNING111 Well and you obviously haven't played it on higher difficulties. On hardcore and insanity, switching those ammo powers is very annoying because you don't really have time for it and you need to spend your skill points on something more crucial. And when the enemies are hitting you so freaking hard, you don't have all day to take down their barriers or armor.
@ernestas111 Well I guess I didnt care to waste my life playing on anything above veteran. You dont have the time as in you dont even have like 3 seconds? Really? Something more crucial? Like what, things that dont damage enemies at all like concussive shot and pull? No your completely wrong. Guns are the dominate force in the game and anything that does not effectively use or support guns (cloak, drone, ammo power) is useless. Warp and singularity I guess have good use put together (not really)
@ernestas111 And just so you dont tell me "your forgetting about tech armor" or this or other yeah I know there are a few useful abilities. Pull is useless. Push is usful against really weak enemies (it is not nearly as powerful as it was in ME1) and to add to that they only work against red bar raw health points which diminishes their usablility enormously. I am assuming tech powers are just as useless as biotic because its almost the opposite (sheilds and robots vs flesh and armor).
@ernestas111 Warp and singularity are useless by themselves and their usefullness combined is only against really weak very packed groups of enemies (the so called pull and push combo does not work).
@111BLACKLIGHTNING111 Well I donno about you, but warp and singularity have saved my butt plenty of times. Even on hardocore. Well warp maybe indeed is abit underpowered, though singularity is still pretty useful. I believe that you just have to be able to use it at the right time and place to make it effective
@my89tube It just makes me so happy inside when other people know my pain... thank you for not being a dumbass like other people. Is that all you didnt like about ME2?
@111BLACKLIGHTNING111 That was the main thing. In general though, ME2 didnt suck me in like ME1. I beat ME1 in a week(with exploration side quests etc,). I bought ME2 day of release and still havnt finished it. I just kind of lost interest. I think im gonna go back and try to finish it though and hopefully ME3 is as awesome as ME1
I was a Sentinel for my first 3 playthroughs (back in 2007-2008), got to level 60 with him. It was pretty fun once I got higher level, but didn't like only using a pistol so much.
Got bored recently and made a new game and character, playing as a Soldier now. Pretty cool using assault rifles and heavy armor but I do miss having Biotic powers. Might try Vanguard later on too, looks like fun. =)
adepts r awesome...im alittle worried though i almost beat the game and havent gotten any of my ability achievements like (warp stasis throw lift...you get the idea)
I played through as Vanguard, and my first career I only got the pistol and shotgun achievements. My second playthrough, I got Lift, Throw, Warp, and Barrier. You just have to use them a lot. Use your adrenaline burst often so you can keep recharging. Master Adrenaline Burst works great.
Im just wondering if this happened to anyone else.
When I made my adept a bonus thing popped up and said if i wanted to use a assault rifle i said ok. I had every thing a normal adept would have except I could use a pistol and assault rifle.
In case you haven't, don't forget to do the mission on Earth's moon (where you have to destroy the rogue V.I.). When it's over, it gives you a specialty class, in addition to your base class. :) By far, my favorite has been Vanguard/Shock Trooper... Shotguns and biotics. :)
you should dude, it's worth it. i was going to make a video review for this one but then my Xbox 360 broke down on me, and it might be a while before I can get a new one.
Ashley's pants are easy to get in, you just gotta say the right words, do the right things, and talk with her after every mission. Eventually you'll get a glimpse of her ass. If ya know what I mean.
Yeah, I was a Vanguard my first time through, Adept second time, I'm playing through again as a soldier, just because I never made it with the Ashley chick either of the other two times so that's my main goal this time :)
I think it would be cool to play an Adept...but there sure is a lot of pussy footing around while they select their ammo. It's like tell the bad guy to pause for moment while you get ready to kill him. Am I wrong? Dunno about that one. Can't wait to play though.
