Most classical music composers would be metalheads, they played what they had, and some of them composed music way ahead their times. Also just compare the complexity of some songs with current music, you can only compare to some (good) metal songs, other styles are not even worth comparing.

These guys are awesome doing what they do, adapting classical music to the way it sounds awesome with current instruments. (Don't take me wrong, I also love classical music in its true form)

Only difference being that classical music had more than just technical complexity. There was a lot more going on in the compositions, like motifs and counterpoint, that metal has yet to discover. Give it another hundred years and I think you'll be absolutely right, but classical music is far more complex from a compositional standpoint than most modern metal is.

Gotta say, I do love this band though. definitely gonna buy their albums as soon as I have money.
