  • Kingcrusher, you speak about being of greek origin. After I have read it,that dawned upon me that both you an me must be of the same faith because both Russia and Greece are orthodox countries for the most part.

  • Well now you him and one billion others can BFF's!!!!

    Thats amazing!!

  • According to allexperts: Both the Russian and the Greek churches are known as Orthodox because of their early split with the Roman Catholic church during what has been called in 1054 The Great Schism.

  • How do you turn on those arrows and highlighting in Chessbase?

  • ive always wondered this as well. ive had fritz 11 gui for 6 months & still havent come across this feature.

  • yeah any comment KC??

  • ctrl, ctrl+alt or ctrl+shift and just drag the mouse (with the button down of course)

  • if you want to hl a square, click on it (with - again - ctrl, ctrl+alt or ctrl+shift pressed).

  • why undermine the e4 square?

  • I'm not a particularly strong player but I can give you the reasons why I played 10.f3. (I was out of "book" after 6...Ne4). Black's e4 pawn gives him a fair amount of space and takes the d3 and f3 squares from white's pieces. In other words, if black completes development, with the structure unchanged, he will be doing quite well. Therefore, I think it makes sense to play f3 immediately, as exf3 is forced, getting rid of his advanced pawn and developing white's queen to an aggressive square.

  • Great job at this tournament KC.

  • As well as saying, thank you ,Tryfon for your very kind comments, I should just like to correct that I did indeed lose a game to IM Graeme Buckley.

    Regards, Peter Constantinou

  • Hi there! Well done on your British championship performance. Sorry I misread the - sign, against Buckley. Oh well, you only lost one game!. Well done.

  • really well played Peter. Are you allowed breaks if these games last that long??

Also, thanks for this post, KC

  • Thank you very much. I deleted my other comment because I mistakenly said that these games could last 9 hours when that should be 7 hours. You are not obliged to stay at the board during that time, although of course wondering off when it's your turn and then playing a very strong move might be a bit suspicious!

  • Thanks for the video. Great positional play by Peter Constantinou.

  • Thanks again kingcrshr;wonderful explitives

  • How about 28...Be6 protecting d5 and f5?

  • if 28...Be6 29.Qxg5... hxg5 30 cxd5 looks terminal. If 30...Bxd5, simply 31. Rxf5. If 30...Bd7, white can play either 31. Nxf5 or 31. Nxe4 (because the black f-pawn is pinned), which both look pretty strong, winning a second pawn immediately.

    - Peter Constantinou

    Thanks again, Tryfon.

  • Because of 29. cd Bxd5 30. Qxg5 hg 31. Rxf4 is a big advantage to white
