@supertaquito94 Avenue Q is a fantastic musical. I love Wicked but it's over hyped. It isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be. Wicked simply has a wider audience base because you don't have to be 17 to see it. That is the main reason it earned more money.
@CallYouMeFair Thats really not true. Just because a show becomes more successful does not mean its less good quality wise to a smaller show. Tbh...I expected to LOATH wicked and I walked out a huge fan...and the exact opposite for Avenue Q. WICKED is more successful because it SPEAKS to a wider audience then AQ did.
@degeorgetitanic Not exactly. I love both Wicked and Avenue Q, but I'd have to say Avenue Q speaks to a wider audience. Wicked's message just seems easier for conservative people to swallow. Avenue Q requires a very open mind; you can't go in thinking "This is a puppet show, therefore it will suck" or "This is a bunch of people talking about sex, porn, and homosexuality, therefore it will suck". But it's not about the puppets, or the sex; it's about finding your way in REAL life.
Thank you for posting this! It was great to be able to watch the entire film right after reading about it and realizing that I'd never find the DVD locally.
lol, I love the statistic about the drop in hate crimes against puppets since Avenue Q opened!

Well... Wicked is still on Broadway, and Avenue Q isn't. That says all you need to know about which is the better musical.

@supertaquito94 yeah box office receipts are definitely the biggest indicator of quality

I know that's Idina's voice playing over the credits at the end, but can anyone tell me what the song is? I don't recognize it.
