I am trying to get the doctors to see I have either adrenal fatigue or Secondary Addison's disease. I fight them every day. So hard for them to 'join the dots' of my symptoms. I wonder how your father was diagnosed? Would sincerely like to know his symptoms and ultimate diagnosis.
thanks for sharing the video youve made for your father..it is so touching! im a student nurse and it helps me more to understand this dse..sorry for your loss..God bless
My parents were told to say goodbye to me because i wasn't going to make it through the night. I understand how hard dealing with addison's disease is. almost 8 years later and i am still having troubles with my health. Any amount of stress in my body sends me spiraling back into another crisis. Anyone dealing with this disease, hang in there. Its not easy but it could be worse. Keep Smiling
I am so sorry to hear about your father. I am 19 years old and was diagnosed with addisons disease when i was 12. Not many doctors know and understand Addison's Disease. When it hit me, it hit me hard. The doctors thought i was anorexic, and i faught with them each day saying i wasn't. I finally turned to my mom and told her i was dying, i could feel it. She got me to the city dr who looked at all my joints and said i had addisons. At that time i had gone into a full adrenal crisis. Cont..
@amberthinakins I had such a similar story. Good on you for pursuing the truth, it took me till I was lying on a hospital bed before they diagnosed me properly.
@cynicle thanks, it was hard but in the end i pulled through. im sorry to haer about your diagnoses story, i know how frustrating it can be when they are diagnosing you wrong and as they mistaken whats wrong with you, you die in the hospital bed just a little bit more. i remember when they sent me from the town doctor to the city doctor, i was leaving the town hospital and my dad was pushing me in a wheel chair because my body at that point was almost completely usless. ...cont..
@cynicle cont.. as i was being wheeled out, the nurse yelled from there station, make her walk, shes anorexic, not dead. my dad was furious because if i could walk i would be doing so. he picked me up with one arm, because at that point i had lost almost 40lbs (not good when your 13) and through the wheelchair back at them, he proceeded to carry me outside to the car and as he was doing so he kept telling me, its going to be alright, we know your not anorexic, we believe you!
@cynicle cont. sorry this is so long.. i believe that if it werent for my conitnuing support from my parents, i would have died in the beaverlodge hospital.so i also like to belive that a person can do anything, as long as they have people supporting them and caring about them. with those things you can do anything you set your mind to, be it learning to ride a bike, graduating from college, or simply surviving a miss diagnosis. i hope your doing well now, and i wish nothing but the best for you
I have Addison's too. Have any of got anything other than Addison's. I also have hypo thryroid and hypo parathyroid. My Dr. says I am gonna have hypo gonadism in the future.
I have recently been diagnosed with Addison's. I have been suffering for several years with rapidly declining health and no doctor would take me seriously. One even said I had "Women's Syndrome"!!! Finally, I found a doctor who would listen and I am now on medication. I feel immensely better, but still have issues like muscle pain and weakness and the occasional dizziness. Moral, don't give up when the doctor's ignore you. Find another doctor!
This sounds so much like me...doctors kept trying to throw antidepressants at me. Felt like I was dying and caught every little illness that came my way. Weakness is awful. Question..was your Addison caused by a pituitary tumor? I will have an MRI soon on my pituitary. I was very sick last summer and felt this was my illness at its worse.
I am the mother of two boys. I have Addison's and Lupus among other autoimmune disorders. I think you did a great job with the video for your dad. I lost my dad. I am afraid that I will leave my children too soon. I love them so much. thank you for getting the word out there that this is a real disease and a killer. Thanks for sharing. Your dad would be proud of you.
Sorry to hear of your loss. I have Addison's Disease too and I thank you for sharing your experience, as it's good to raise awareness of the condition. It's a lovely video to remember your dad by.
