  • I always loved this rendition of I Believe. Great group. I read that Larry Chance dedicated it to an original member Larry Palumbo who was killed in a parachute accident while in the military in 1959. Does anyone have any more info on the circumstances, the unit etc ? I'm a retired paratrooper from the 60s era and am curious about a fellow trooper i.e. since one of my favorite songs is dedicated to him. Is he pictured here on this album cover? Thanks..

  • @laruesansjoie Sorry I have no info on Larry Palumbo, but I can verify that it was dedicated to Larry. I saw the Elegants perform at Gus Gosserts Second Original Rock & Roll Show at The New York Academy of Music on Sept. 26, 1970. One of the songs they did was "I Believe". At the beginning of the song they dedicated it to Larry Palumbo.

  • I played this at the funeral of one of my best friends, Eddie S. . I can close my eyes here and now and still his father standing alongside his casket crying as this song played. Some images one never forgets.

  • Excellent lead singer and harmony

  • I used to hear them do this live every weekend in The Bronx where they were the house band at a club called Maxim's.

Eddie Black, first tenor/ lead ,The Five Sharks

  • My late boyfriend (of 13+ years) played this song so much for about a year up until he got sick. This song really strengthens my faith. It makes me think of him with a smile...."Erin, you have to listen to th is song. No, you REALLY have to listen to it!" Bob, I love you and I can't wait to see you again some day. Love you.

  • It doesn't get better than this. I am privileged to have been born in the mid '50's and hearing this wonderful music on the radio even as a little child at 5 yrs old in NYC in 1961, listening to my older sister's radio and her listening to the music with her friends and watching them dance. Since then I have always had an appreciation of The Doo Wop sound and all the other great rock n' roll music and British Invasion music that came out of the '60's and '70's. This music will never die. Thanks!

  • @luckyald I would have liked to live in those times
