I have the 45 of this too along with B.A's other hit Bang Bang brilliant song then as it is now. Whatever happened to B.A Robertson and when is he going to release something equally good to make us all smile
Former Rockpile guitarist Billy Bremner player guitar here? It looks like him. Just a bit of trivia for anyone who knows his or her British musicians.
Spot on, it is indeed Billy Bremner. Many a time I saw him with Dave Edmunds Rockpile (also featuring Nick Lowe and fantastico ex-Man soon-to-be Dire Straits drummer) Terry Williams at The Nashville in W.Kensington.
The arrangement of this great (but ancient) song is a straight lift from PJ Proby's 1964 hit.
An admission...I bought the 45rpm single which i still have, and i do like the song, say what you like, they are having great fun and are actually pretty good....thank you for posting this long forgotten song Peg2003.
OMG this takes me back further than I wish to admit, however still bought (with my pocket money!) every record he made. Even made friends with his mum as she shoped where I worked at that time and she was the nicest lady you could ever hope to meet. x
Anyone remember a TV series about a girl called Maggie who worked in a cash and carry? BS Robertson sang the theme song and it had the lyric "Maggie, so far, so far, good"
Hiya I've just replied to a similar query about this on another BA Robertson clip. I remember the song too, but only the bit you mention. Have you tried googling it?
According to google, it was just called Maggie, but can't seem to find it on here, sorry hope this helps. Hadn't realised how much BA Robertson had done over the years!!
kool and the kaftan was another great ba robertson song can be seen on totp april 80 with kid jensen he wrote the living years by mike and the mechanics if you want to see how annoying he is watch the interview with bow wow wow lead singer lol
yes...it was a HUGE hit for PJ PROBY back in 64, thankfully PJ did awesome job with this 30s ballad unlike this garbage, neither are good singers and the bloke looks a complete prick jumping about like a jack-in-abox.
pmsl hahahahahahaha lovin it, these 2 are the double of my sister and her bf of the time who she later married, my other brothers and mysel used 2 rip the pish out of them about it, the likeness was uncanny, couldnt believe our luck when they released this together, catchy wee tune
