  • Doesn't BA look like Rob Brydon

  • Brilliant Song - Still have the original 45 locked away safely along with several hundred others

  • I have the 45 of this too along with B.A's other hit Bang Bang brilliant song then as it is now. Whatever happened to B.A Robertson and when is he going to release something equally good to make us all smile

  • Former Rockpile guitarist Billy Bremner player guitar here? It looks like him. Just a bit of trivia for anyone who knows his or her British musicians.

  • @Paneeks1960

Spot on, it is indeed Billy Bremner. Many a time I saw him with Dave Edmunds Rockpile (also featuring Nick Lowe and fantastico ex-Man soon-to-be Dire Straits drummer) Terry Williams at The Nashville in W.Kensington.

The arrangement of this great (but ancient) song is a straight lift from PJ Proby's 1964 hit.

  • This is a GREAT song---listen to the (chord) changes.If you're a muso you'll know.....

  • i think maggie's a great singer. but this is rank. must have done it tae get oan totp

  • @GRAHAM5020 You're welcome. :)

  • great vocal from Maggie and great guitar solo but it sounds if it was played on a Tele not that vintage Gibson

  • I'd completely forgotten about this one. Must be on one of my early teens cassette compilations somewhere. My sister had hair like that.

  • I absolutely adore this for so many reasons, but mainly I'm madly in love with Davie Duncan. <3

  • :-))))))

  • is that his mother, or what?

  • OMG this takes me back further than I wish to admit, however still bought (with my pocket money!) every record he made. Even made friends with his mum as she shoped where I worked at that time and she was the nicest lady you could ever hope to meet. x

  • lol at " poke eyes out " hey cmon it's not that bad - great wee number all be it a rip off from pj proby.

  • Great stuff. Good to see wee Davie Duncan from Greenock's finest, the Shakin Pyramids on mouth organ. Classic tune

  • And not to mention one of Britains great lost talents Billy Bremner (ex Dave Edmunds Rockpile) on guitar

  • Anyone remember a TV series about a girl called Maggie who worked in a cash and carry? BS Robertson sang the theme song and it had the lyric "Maggie, so far, so far, good"

  • Hiya I've just replied to a similar query about this on another BA Robertson clip. I remember the song too, but only the bit you mention. Have you tried googling it?

  • According to google, it was just called Maggie, but can't seem to find it on here, sorry hope this helps. Hadn't realised how much BA Robertson had done over the years!!

  • Thanks luv - I've searched for it myself and can't find it either - If I get lucky and find it I'll put it up so u can see it too haha

  • Yes and dont forget Jimmy Dewar, Stone the Crows bassist who provided the voice for Robin Trowers early abums and who has never since been matched

  • Good to see BA wearing the old favourite staple of the 80s - white socks! - always a good look!

  • Brings back so many good memories Absolutely Fab as like many great scottish musicians

  • absolute class, scottish music scene was brill in the 80's

  • I had forgotten about this! Wow...

  • Did Maggie Bell sing the theme music to Taggart? Could somebody please confrim that?

  • Certainly did and she's still going. She provided the voice for Joanna Lumley in last night's Lewis.

  • yes maggie did sing no mean city,,,,,she was fantastic

  • Original by P J Proby is memory serves.

  • yes...it was a HUGE hit for PJ PROBY back in 64, thankfully PJ did awesome job with this 30s ballad unlike this garbage, neither are good singers and the bloke looks a complete prick jumping about like a jack-in-abox.

    GARBAGE !!!
