I've had this song memorized & popping in my head every year since I think 1988 or so. And on the other part of the sketch they were doing "Daddy's nose is red & runny Daddy's voice is gruff & funny & the only words I can understand are God and damn and Christmas..." And a couple of others
I am all alone at Xmas now these days, even a goofy dysfunctional family is probably better than that. I miss my dad, he really made the holidays very special for both my mom and me. He was a great provider, made a lot of money and we always got treated really great esp. at Christmas.
SNL...when Jan Hooks wasn't a fat hillbilly, Mike Meyer was funny, Dana Carvey wasn't trying too hard, Phil Hartman was alive, Victoria Jackson was hot, thin, and not a crazy tea party chick, and Nora Dunn was what we'd call today a Lipstick Lesbian.
@jpl0205 Well, I was talking more about the whole 17th season cast, but I can tell you can't help making a mistake like that, so you just have a Merry Christmas, slugger. Here's hoping you got all the toys you asked for, and be sure to say thank you to your aunt when she gets you a pack of tube socks.
@murderbunnies You are SO right! From the start of the show it was about politics! Making fun of President Ford, Carter and the government. SNL was where you went to make fun of the politicians, nothing has changed. I am old enough to remember the first show.

@jpl0205 Then it's when Julia Sweeney had yet to become what nobody would call a bullmaiden.
