This american composer/performer born in New Orleans, was greatly influenced by hanging out at Congo Square. He liked to put quotes from popular music into his compositions. He was very popular in S. America. He died 1869, 3 weeks after collapsing on stage after playing his own mournful composition "Morte" in Brazil!!
A HAHHH, so they DO play Gottschalk!!!
