  • manassas reunion anyone?

  • Still fabulous to this day....Manassas! Thanks!

  • Manassas set the pace - tremendous

    ever lasting - I´m a fan since 4 decades

  • don't get me wrong, i like Stephen Stills's electric playing, but his acoustic playing is phenomenal! in my opinion, he rivals that of Bob Dylan

  • @Schizophrenia222 numerous people can play the acoustic guitar better than Dylan. He just plays and dosn't jam.

  • This is some crazy shit. Best supergroup ever. This is playing like a fucking band. The rest is bullshit

  • @SuperTomCollins Hit it right on the head. A band needs to be a unit. Only better band was early Little Feat.

  • I dont know if it was his best work overall, but is among the best Rock bands put together, they could kick some bad ass butts

    thanks for the upload

    gus : ) ♪

  • One of the great under the radar bands. Saw them twice in the 70s, Stills at his peak (IMO) , a big enough draw that they could headline 5000 seat venues tho fans were still CSN(Y) crazy:)

The first show is in my top 10 best concerts ever by anyone. Second show 6 months later was merely "excellent:)" Crosby and Nash dropped in that and we all went got to go CSN crazy. First saw these vids years ago- they seemed loose & strange as they are in a tv studio w/no audience. Now they seem Priceless.

  • Incredible performance, Stills is just a genius and what a great band he's playing with!

Next year at the BonnerrooFestival a Manasses reunion, Neil Young comes back with his Crazy Horse band and Richie Furay with Poco? Wouldn't that be marvelous........

  • We need more Manassas on Youtube ! all their material is fu***** awesome. Thanks for sharing :)

  • There is not one bad song on this album.

  • One of most cohesive, diverse and exciting 4-sided slabs of vinyl ever to hit my turntable. And the follow-up is great, too. What a band. And TOTALLY agree that this is the greatest Stills project by far.

  • Manassa did an hour long show that aired on BBC tv...does anyone know if it still exists?

    Jim

  • This band was sooo good, it almost makes me cry every time I hear this album...and that is often. Totally fantastic rhythm section. Every player a star. The band is the description of Synergy. After nearly 40 years I still can't believe how together, hot, in groove and overlooked they were. Stills was at his zenith...I loved and love this music!

  • i love this song.

  • I love to hear Stills when he can let go. In Manassas he didn't have to harmonize with Crosby and Graham and he shines. Not that Crosby and Graham are bad. Stills just sounds so much better when he can be raw and edgy.

  • His best 2 Record set he ever released.Look at the players..

on this recording. I listened to this in high school.Still a favorite.

  • such a brilliant mix; country, folk, latin, R&B. first manassas album one of the best of its era

  • I borrowed this album from my first girlfriend and never gave it back--still got it-- it is a masterpiece

  • I borrowed this album from my first girlfriend and never gave it back--still got it

  • I saw them in Albuguerque Civic Center sometime in the 70's, never forget how good they were and how they rocked the place better than the main act whoever it was...

  • Despite being born a generation too late I discovered this album when I was in my late teens and it is still my favorite of all time. A masterpiece of music.

  • Bless you.. Where did you get this? One of the best bands of all time.. all genres included. Magnificent. Raw, direct and with passion. Don't hear that anymore.

  • SAW THE BOYS IN COLUMBUS OHIO AT OHIO STATE FIELD HOUSE WINTER 1973............................PLAYED SIDE ONE OF THE 2ND ALBULM WITHOUT A COMMENT OR PAUSE..................CLASSIC HILLMAN AND STILLS...................THE BEST BAND OF THE 1970'S SO SAIDS ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE................TOO BAD STILLS WAS SO MESSED UP.............THEY COULD HAVE RULED THE DECADE RATHER THAN 2 SHORT YEARS

  • Hell yeah. Got this on my MP3 player and STILL good.

  • Incredible! Bless you!

  • Thanks for sharing this with us. I listened to the first Manasses album endlessly--and it still sounds great today.

  • Hi, by the way where you guys get this old movies or tapes? I know, (hush).

Just to thank you for the upload and to just add that Stephen Stills "Manassas" was my first "big time" concert "experience". It was really great watching all this guys perform live before you (I was on ground level standing not so far from stage, the old fashion way) he played most of this great songs plus some of his other CSN or solo hits.

Thanks for the video again straight to my favorites list

    later

  • i don´t know why but this band never bores me even after 20 years. there must be something there that is diamond hard

  • this band had the best musicians but the worst lyrics

  • When CDs were introduced, this was the very first CD I purchased...even before Sergeant Pepper.

  • These guys in their day were the best of Rock, Folk & Country. Chris Hillman from (the bryds Eight miles high & GRAM PARSONS FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS) and Stephen Stills from (Crosby Stills and Nash) formed a casual band that could jam! Called manassas

  • This band really jammed good with boyish looking faces. Stills harmonized good with Crosby Stills & Nash, but jammed good with these guys. I met Al Perkins and Chris Hillman walking in the crowds at summerfest when they were touring as a duel back in the 1980s.

  • They need to retire Wooden Fish Guy.

  • this was the best album Stills ever put out without Crosby and Nash. Incredible record from start to finish.

  • Black Crowes cover this very well from time to time

Just not quite this well. This just drips funkrocksoul.

  • now....this is good

  • I saw the full Manassas lineup at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. They performed the first side of the double album note for note with not a missed lick. I think this was the best Stills and Hillman et al. ever did together, and it was more revolutionary than the Flying Burrito Brothers--never receiving the credit that was deserved, then or now.

  • I think I saw the same show....SPAC was the best venue I could ever imagine....first time I ever saw Stills....refer road may have blurred my memory a bit....lol....people who were not there in the 70's will never know....

  • Was there, brother.. what an ab kickshow, one of top five. SPAC with the big big stage. when they opened w/this song, the place went tardo, and like u say, following side one just cranked it higher. remember, three sets, and everyone but conga lala changed clothes each break. wick-ed. god, the crap that makes the stage these days.. and, set one did end with 'so u wanna b a r&r star'. i still get goosebumps. that side one still holds the CD volume record in my car. THANKS 1111 !

  • @AmBotanischenGarten,,, Yes that was a great show!!!

  • this song and that album, one of the best of that era. Stills was influenced, hung around SO MANY great musicians - no wonder he was so good.

  • I`m half reetarded, but i love this song

  • awesome band.

  • This band was too good!!!

  • The first Manassas album actually charted at #4 in the US and got good reviews, it's only been overlooked in retrospect...IMO this was the best thing Stephen Stills ever did, even over the Buffalo Springfield.

  • @mtopper66

re: "IMO this was the best thing Stephen Stills ever did, even over the Buffalo Springfield."

I most definitely agree with that statement.

  • Saw CSN on 8/27/09 and they were amazing! I was lucky enough to see Manassas live in 1972 and they never got the attention they deserved. Albums Manassas I & II are not to be missed!

  • I just saw CSN 8/25/09... ticket stub #18 for my collection... Stills was BETTER than this vid !!! I think he's been playing w/fuzz and wah wah to do the covers they have on this tour, and the creative juices flowed! But I do love Manassas, and this vid is GREAT! Thanks!

  • Stills was so young and so talented.

  • gad this is s great, i first saw this on tv about 93' amazing.

bought the albums, incredible. Totally underrated and over looked. One of the best bands ever! God bless 'em. X

  • thank you all for the nice comments, Stills rocks

  • @radioactive1111

thank you for this wonderful song!

  • GREAT post!

  • thanks for post

  • Stills at his best.. hands down

  • The Greatest !!!

  • Such an underrated guitar player! Tasteful!!

  • He had such great musicians in this band. Chris Hillman made every band he was ever in shine, since he is such a consummate sideman and musician. Sadly, Stills' peak before he diminished himself with too much cocaine. I was a huge fan back then.

  • Diminished ? I don't see any point in his career that he wasn't creative .

  • cocaine made stills shine,as it did to many great musicians ,but off course it was a hard price to pay

  • this is Stills at his best. the guy with the big white guitar- thanks for this footage. dope-

  • I think Stills was at his creative and talent best with Manassas ...

  • I'd have to agree. While I love CSNY, he was able to branch out within a band setting here, and it really, really, really shows.

  • Five Stars
