My niece was a promising middle-distance runner & Olympic contender- but she stopped competing at 18 because of the horribly intrusive drug testing regime.
World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) officials ruled & ruined her life. She had to tell them exactly where she would be 24/7. A MALE official arrived during her 17th birthday party & demanded she defecate in front of him into a commode he’d brought along. Her basic human right to privacy was utterly trampled on & destroyed.
Personally i think this should have been cancelled years ago. This country cannot afford it yet where cutting everything important but the olympics. Its case over £13 billion todate to build and plan the entire event. yet they put up tuition fees, cut NHS, cut the police and cut many other things that are far more important than this crap that over half of the UK population dont care about or atleast dont care about it being in the UK.
So according to the loonies, the Olympic Logo is either a swastika or a zionist symbol. I salute the people who don't over analyze.... and furthermore.. have lives. Lets forget the loonies and continue in our pursuit to World Unity! We Are One! We Are Powerful! We Are United! We Are The World! <3

I don't understand all this negativity towards the Olympics by a lot of the Britsh media. First it was at Vancouver now towards the 2012 London games. The games are a year away and there are already doom and gloom predictions or tales of how horrid the transportation will be. Some people need to relax and enjoy the games for what they are, a unifying and entertaining force of sporting excellence that we can all enjoy.
I think the London games will be amazing, and London will be a great host.

After watching this video I suddenly don't find the official logo so ugly. The real problem with it is the colors that they chose. That orange/yellow or purple/yellow versions are really bad, but that black/white/purple version that appears in this video is actually very acceptable. I believe their intention was to create a devious, insolite, young, shocking and unique logo... And they succeeded. If you put together all logos ever created for the Olympiads, the London 2012 is by far the best.

All the olympic logos before the london 2012 logo all look the same with the five olympic colours going through the name of the host city. The london 20 12 logo is different edgy and inspired. To be honest the logo sucks, it looks like some graffiti you see all round the city. Perhaps the olympic committee are preparing visitors to the reality of London before they arrive. I don't see why they couldn't have come up with a classier logo like the canadians did for the Winter Olympics! And what is going on with the new olympic mascots? They look like more animated crap. I agree when I first saw the logo I was not convinced. But I think what the committee wanted to do was make 2012 different compared to other olympics by choosing not to do the conventional or traditional patriotic display of British history i.e. what other countries would have done, but instead go for a more modern angle, and that is quite refreshing.
Admittedly the stint they did in Beijing was disappointing, but this handover sequence was brilliant on its own nevertheless

i love this video. when i first saw it i thought 'omg what will the other countries think :/' but now i can see that this video, along with the weird dude on buckingham palace, will inspire people to visit my hometown.

To be honest the logo sucks, it looks like some graffiti you see all round the city. Perhaps the olympic committee are preparing visitors to the reality of London before they arrive. I don't see why they couldn't have come up with a classier logo like the canadians did for the Winter Olympics! And what is going on with the new olympic mascots? They look like more animated crap. And £1000 a ticket what a rip off!

I agree when I first saw the logo I was not convinced. But I think what the committee wanted to do was make 2012 different compared to other olympics by choosing not to do the conventional or traditional patriotic display of British history i.e. what other countries would have done, but instead go for a more modern angle, and that is quite refreshing.
Admittedly the stint they did in Beijing was disappointing, but this handover sequence was brilliant on its own nevertheless

No. We British strive to do things differently, that is why we have made the Rolling stones, the Beatles, the internet, the industrial revolution, etc ......
