If you're referring to guttural styled vocals, you should know that they take a lot more skill and practice to learn than these do. I agree that screamo is a bullshit genre, but plenty of bands that could fit into your 'burp metal' genre are excellent, e.g. Whitehcapel, The Black Dahlia Murder, Bleed From Within and a trillion more. This is Nu Metal, not the only genre in the world, learn your shit.

One thing I rememberd from acting, my voice coach said for greater voice projection to breathe from my diaphram (for you children out there, breathe in and push the air to your stomach so that you look pregnant and its really hard) that way you can force more air out with less effort and get a louder sound :)
