Who knows, maybe things could have been even better without an inflation tax, but I think most people would agree that the last 97 years have been better for most people (after the Fed), than the 97 years prior to 1913 (after the Fed).

@InfiniteUniverse88 CONT...and what i mean by freedom (civil liberties) is that when a government becomes dependent on someone else to exist, it inevitably loses its sovereignty. Our desire for more and more credit to keep "consumerism" alive in order to save the economy is doing just that. Look at Greece, they are a shining example of what is to come. They're having to sell off government functions to private firms to remain solvent. It really is all tied together.
