  • Who is the one person to dislike this. WOW just WOW. what a douche

  • What has God got to do with it. Idiot

  • Jim Redmond is carrying the Olympic torch for the final leg in 2012 at the london games.

  • goosebumps

  • Maybe I'm blind but I don't see God around that fella anywhere in the track. I see HIS FATHER.

  • Such an inspirational man to carry on and not give up with help to his dad!

  • so lovely!!!

  • who the hell disliked this video? omg.

  • This video was amazing, until it turned into God helping him instead of his father.

  • @8bboss Spot on. It was his dads love, not god.

  • speechless, and bawling. love this..

  • How much do we love our children?...thats how much!! Awesome clip;-)

  • People are ignorant. The reason it's tied in to Christianity is not because god is anywhere in this story it's simply a picture of the same thing that Jesus did for us. Showing that sometimes we think we can do things on our own but when we come up too short god is there to pick us up. No one is forcing you to believe anything.

  • I really hate the way that us, human beings, have to attribute these moments of human greatness to a fictional being. This is an amazing moment for the son and the father but not the Judo-Christian Son and Father but Charles Darwin's son and father.

  • We watched this In assembly and everyone started crying :( they were the real winners of that race -3

  • @DragonAge2k

why the hell would he pretend? its the olympics... but i agree with the god thing.

  • :'( so inspirational.

  • Gets me every time :,(

  • While perhaps this video may present a nice analogy from a Christian/religious perspective, it's not an invisible father in heaven who helps but a very human father on earth. It's a beautiful example not only of parental support but also of an individual's own drive to excel and persevere. For me, the religious interpretations are irrelevant. The actions of one man accomplish more than the prayers of a thousand.

  • How could anyone not like this video? It is amazing and perfectly shows the love that parents have for their children as well as the love that God has for all of His children. I'm still bawling my eyes out!

  • :)

  • Isn't there even one video of this on whole youtube, that doesn't have music in the background, but only shows the race with it's own audio track?! I want to hear the ovations when he finishes the race!

  • For those that keep commenting why have Christians hijacked this the answer is simple. Its a perfect analogy of Christs love for us. Just like the father ran to his son, so God runs after us to help us even when we are running from him, broken, weak and all alone. its beutiful, to those who are running away, stop and let Him help you.

  • @flycentro123 I do not understand why the religious analogy needs to be made. This video is too beautiful to be turned into a message. It is a moment filled with the emotions which reflect the very essence of life; why can't you appreciate it for that and nothing more?

  • This is such a kind hearted video yet, I fail to see why this video seems to be used by christens to spread the word of god. He did this by him self not god don't give god credit for this mans strength and passion

  • this is so inspirational for those people who have nothing to guide them in life, for those who want to give up. I am touched by this video , it brought tears to my eyes, and brought joy to my heart to know that there is a God out there and he is helping us when we want to give up. Derrick Redmond is a great example of those people who never give up even if their chances have been decreased to a minimum

  • This means try to transmit the idea that you never should give up of your dreams, or the dreams of the ones that you care about

  • While this may be all inspirational and all, keeping going when you dont really need to with a bad physical injury is just stupid. You can aggravate the injury and cause far worse damage than just dealing with the original injury. Been there, done that.

  • heroes!

  • no words, only tears...

  • thanks for this amazing video love it!!! :D and p.s to publics

Christans as my self are not religious idiots

  • This video is sooo much to deal with God like really stop trying to take away this amazing moment. If you Were A Christan you would know that. And Being A Chriatan Is the Best thing that happened in my life. so people that go to public school you guys are just so dumb!!

  • This video was shown at my church and almost half of the girls were crying and some guys were sniffling. The thing that really tear jerked me was when the father said that they will finish this together. and for all you people who dont believe in god and keep saying Why are all of these related to god? its because he does the same thing and if you dont give a dam about Christians then fuck off and try not to say anything about it. It gets people ticked off

  • @x3JenniePoo, do you think i care about ticking off Christians? let me spell it out for you, THIS VIDEO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GOD!!!!, its a simple case of a fathers love for his son during a sports injury, only religious people who cant think for themeselves can see some hidden religious meaning behind it, im going to watch a version that doesnt try to hoodwink this moment as some some sort of Christian miracle

  • Derek Redmond and his father is a true inspiration :)

  • We watched this today in Worship :) Many of us where moved to tears , Thanks for making this video :)

  • Why are all the video's of this ruined by some kind of reference to god.

    Religious idiots.

  • two of the greatest fathers in the morld: derek's father and dick hoyt. true men true heroes

  • the Heart of a Father

  • I cannot understand why, neither how, but I cannot stop crying... nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I cannot even begin to think about what is making me cry... cry like I had never before.

  • @shadowcomer The weeping -- That is the action of the Holy Spirit drawing you to Jesus. That happened to me too. No one comes to the Father (God) except through the Son (Jesus.) Ask God to forgive you your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart. Then just like in this video, your Father God will forever walk beside you, or carry you when you cannot walk. You will know you will go to heaven when you die and Jesus has paid the price for all of your sins.

  • never give up...die also had to finish

  • wow 1:30 that guy is an asshole and ruins the moment when he is so determined to finish the race with a torn hamstring that he goes beside the tracks and runs and jumps

  • @volttackle5 Damn your stupid, he was triple jumping dumbass how does that make him an asshole and how does that ruin the moment? What the fuck?

  • @phastman1994 Well my fucking bad like i knew he was triple jumping?

  • @volttackle5 Either that or long jump.. what else would he be doing? dumbass

  • @phastman1994 There was no need to add the dumbass part lol but idk i guess he was jumping??

  • @volttackle5 Yes, he was jumping lol

  • @phastman1994 lol true

  • love it!

  • thank you for sharing this video. it made me realize that the situation we are in right now is similar to derek. God works in mysterious ways. He is always just a prayer away when we need Him the most.

    God bless us all.

  • This is definitely the best song to go with this video.

  • absolutely beautiful. he may not won a medal. but wat him and his dad shared is more then anything those 2 could ever ever ever ask for.

  • Lost my father three years ago and nothing has made me miss him more then this video. Watched this twice in the past 10 minutes and have cried both times. I'll quote my last words to my father over the phone when he called me to tell me he was having a heart attack and to get over there to watch my little brother " I love you, I love you, I love you" The last words I ever said to him. Miss you Dad.

  • @cheynedogg: Don't know what to say other that this: We all love you..

  • We actually like this video, it touches our hearts and tickles our funny bone lol

  • It's called Fix You by Coldplay

  • Beautiful video.

I remember this and it is still as powerful now as it was then.

I havent scrolled back to look at comments so forgive me if you have already answered this, but can you tell me the name of this song and the artist.

  • This is an amazing true story of running our own race. We may never win the race but we know that we do our best that we can to finish it... and our Father God will help us get to our destination... for His glory!

Let us all celebrate Father's Day!!!

  • It's unfortunate you only see what is in front of you. The message is not literal, dude. It transcends.

  • Amazing

  • WOW. I haven't cried in years and I shed a tear watching this.

This is what it means to be a man and and amazing father. Pure courage and pure love.

  • "burning desire."

  • I remember watching it , i too would have preferred to see it without music. It was just a very sad time for a man who desperately wanted to win gold and thought it was his time. His father did what you would hope any father would do, be there to support you whenever you need it. Was a sad day

  • very inspiring

  • Why is it that every time I look for a video on youtube, I have to put up with the shit-ass background music. Just give me the video. With announcers. Its better.

  • Apparently its not inspiring enough without the music. LOL.

  • beautiful to see the emotions of a great athlete! I think that this is mentally really hard for him to finish the race. This shows what a great athlete he is.

    I deeply respect him!

  • seriously guys how is this not inspirational or amazing all u guys are saying that its not a big deal or he's weak or what ever guys he was at the Olympics you guys are probably barely good at ur high school or what ever man you kids are fucking stupid for trying to take that moment away from him god bless Derek Redmond ps no spam mail plz i really don't feel like talking to a internet gangster pce

  • @J0eWarrior I agree.

  • maybe you think its inspirational because of the music. it wasnt amazing or inspirational to me. i did the same thing and i didnt even amaze or inspire myself. im not trying to take away his moment. what i did like was that his father helped him. and no man im not in high school anymore. im finishing up at a community college and im gonna walk on at UTEP. in case you dont know that is a division 1 college. dont assume im in high school.

  • i can safely say i would have come at least come 2nd last in that race.

  • @mrfloppyjoe

    Even first

  • when i finished a race after getting injured my dad wasnt even there. im not complaining about it im just saying that it doesnt take much to finish. before you disagree with me realize that you havent been in the situation and i have. so unless youre a sprinter you dont know what its like. as far as the pain goes its not that bad if youve had injuries like that before.

  • you know what? i HOPE you worthless ass gets into the olympics and i HOPE that once you realize what an honor and privelige it is to be considered one of the best in your country that your leg cramps up too. im gonna be the one watching laughing at your stupid ass as YOU look for your father for support and you dont see him there...AGAIN. you say we dont know what its like? i am a sprinter and iv had this happen to me before too but i bet you and i cant even imagine what it feels like to make it

  • Comment removed

  • as far as the olympics and get am injury that makes you lose. you are the lowest piece of shit if you see this and you demean this man's effort to FINISH an olympic race, a race that thousands strive to be a part of but only a few manage to experience

  • Comment removed

  • i dont have to respect you. i'll respect you when you make something of yourself, which it seems like your doing. im just pissed that you dont respect this guy. ok we may not know how bad his injury was at the time, but we do know that he had the guts to keep going so that he could say that he ran in the olympics AND he finished, instead of he ran in the olympics and he gave up. that right there deserves respect. im sorry for wut i said but it just sounded like you were cutting this guy down

  • no of course not. i realize that not everyone wouldve kept at it

  • He said that the injury felt like someone had shot him and thats what he had believed the whole way finishing, a bullet in his quadriceps. he finished the whole race feeling that way. how is this not amazing? more people should know about this today

  • yes thats exactly what it feels like but its more common to pull a hamstring.

  • wait it was his hamstring look at 0:37

  • fuck you man. this athlete probably did not collapse solely from the pain, he probably also collapsed because he came to the realization that he had just failed in the thing that he had strived for in his life. do you have any idea what it is like to have that kind of emotional blow put on you? clearly not. imagine if you worked for something your entire life, and spent years and years training for it, and when your moment has finally arrived, your dream gets snatched away from you.

  • i HAVE worked for something my entire life and if i sustained a career ending injury i would be sad like him but thats beside the point i was trying to make. . .

  • so what is your point ? are you bashing a succesful and emotional runer just for the hell of it?

  • if you look at my original post i mention that its not a big deal what this man did. that he finished the race after he injured his leg. it takes will power and strenth of mind but i think people give him too much credit.

and no im not bashing him. why would i be bashing him if i had to finish a race the same way? that doesnt make any sense.

  • @homeworksuks Okay fuck off, you're disrespecting him for no reason. The guy obviously loves the sport he's doing, and he was going to finish it first or last. God, fuck off :\

  • please bitch i stopped posting on this long ago. i know he loves the sport dumbass if not he wouldnt make it so far in his career.

  • @homeworksuks

    why did you stop posting?

    You made me laugh

  • well because i realized that not one person agreed with me. i wrote the comment to provide insight about what its like to experience what he did but people think they know better. i understand what happened to me was in a high school meet but i mean it might happen in 2011 that i transfer to the university(the community college i go to doesnt have a trak program). so in my opinion it doesnt make a difference hamstring pain is hamstring pain. and i didnt mean to make u laugh but ok cool

  • We probably have different cultures.

I am italian and what I wrote was written only aiming at irony.

I mean it was not serious my comment.

You wrote your opinion and every opinion deserves respect

  • oh yeah, and the reason that your dad wasnt there was because he never wanted you, fuckface. Go suck a dick while your waiting to get in the olympics

  • great choice of music,

  • excelent video.....no words....is really strenght of hearth..

  • Im a big guy who never cries and is usually seen as pretty tough. But this video made me burst into tears, cos i know that my dad would do that for me........wonderful

  • great video and point, but the religious part is unessecary! Don't make a great deed in to something religious. That's lame and a bit rude frankly.

  • It's interesting that this video is thought to be religious when what it does is illustrate so perfectly a Father's love, yes, The Father's love. That's not religion, that's a relationship.

  • and you read the last part?

"God is like that. When we are hurting and fighting to finish, he comes and helps us. Our prayers may be awkwark, our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it, not the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference."...not religious at all...just specified him as God...not at all

  • I didn't see god helping that poor guy out, I saw a live human being running in and supporting him in what he wanted to achieve.

  • Well, at least someone has brain. ;)

  • @BaileysBeads If it were not for God, this human being would not exist.

  • @BaileysBeads Yeah you don't see God helping that poor guy out. What you have to understand is that it's supposed to be a metaphor, and when you're in times of great need your Father in heaven will be there to help you.

  • People give me a negative point, because I said this man IS much better than God. Anyway...

  • wow, what a great video, dude! 5 stars, no doubt!

  • best runner so far! 5 *

  • Your prayers don't make a difference. Your ACTIONS do!

  • Totally agree.

  • that really made me cry.. so touching...

  • I do not claim to believe in god, but I started crying when I watched this-so moving

  • Yes, sure God will help me if I tore my hamstring...

This man is an example of inspiration to others ... not God.

  • inspirational

  • WOW...this video DOES show how our Father in Heaven will help us when we tear hamstrings

  • Incredible, remarkable, words cannot say how great this was
