  • Myron goes back in my memories since childhood -- a true Pittsburgh character who added alot of color to Pittsburgh sports.

Going back 40 years, I've posted this video, "40 years in 3 minutes" which is a music video containing the Beatles' rooftop performance, historical events over the last 40 years (including Pittsburgh sports) and 8mm film antics from the period, all cut tightly to GET BACK and GLASS ONION. Hope you enjoy!

  • sounds like he was a nice guy

  • Myron was a true legend. He was so unique. I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to hear him broadcast Steeler games. He was so funny. You knew he was very special when he was alive, but I can appreciate him even more now as I realize exactly how special he was.

  • A very nice tribute to a special person, Myron was one of a kind!

  • When I think of Myron, I think of my late, beloved father. Daddy would watch the game on TV but turn the sound off and listen to Myron on the radio.

Well, Mr. Cope, Daddy, hope you're watching, because we going to bring number SEVEN home for ya'!

  • WE WILL WIN NUMBER 7 FOR YOU MYRON R.I.P

  • @xboxplaya420 We won number 6 for Myron . Lets win this one for Hines as it will probably be his last game !

  • Unlistenable. Back away from the mic. The "P's" and "T's" knock you over. This is the Trib? Yeah. That makes sense. Hacks.

  • @RunyonFan Maybe if you remove your head from your ass you would understand it ...

  • @XXSteelWarriorsXX A classy response from a classy right-wing propaganda rag. LOOK OUT, EDWARD R. MURROW!!! Some genius named... What was it...? Oh— "XXSteelWarriorsXX" (catchy) is in your rearview mirror. (Hack.)

  • RIP Myron. Your fans still love you to this day. Your legacy lives on in the Terrible Towel. !!!

  • Happy Birthday Myron!

  • 1:09 Myron and Jack Lambert on Kennywood's Raging Rapids 1985

  • myron cope's voice will be passed to my children....and theirs......

  • myron you will always rock>>>>>>love the new THE GHOST OF COPE ... found on YOUTUBE...

  • to all 35 who disliked this...go fuck yourselves

  • g "The Official Myron Cope Terrible Towel" during the 1976 season.[9] Gimbels has since gone out of business; the current manufacturer of the Towel is McArthur Towel & Sports Co., in Baraboo, Wisconsin

  • no matter how bad things got it only took hearing cope to cope and gain hope myron was the uplifting voice we heard everyone in pittsburgh had a best friend on the radio everyone can say hey i know cope several occasion ive seen cope around town and he never put the fans second he would take time to stop and talk to any pittsburgher he may have not been a big man in size but cope is a giant among men is their anyone in the burgh that would disagree the field should have a statue of him outside

  • I get tears watching this. Myron is the first voice i remember hearing on the radio when i was growing up. We muted the TV just to hear Myron during the stiller games!

  • incase you dont know... the terible towel and all proffits go to help the kids with muscular disrophy in pittsburhg, and when myron died he gave all rights of the terrible towel to them.. it represents more than the steelers and football history.. people that hate dont get it and are just jelous of the history that pittsburhg has.. just look on youtube how mant nfl films are on here about anyother team? the STEELERS are AMERICAS TEAM!!

  • TV on Mute, Radio on tune to WDVE to listen to cope while the game is going!

  • Don't ya miss that though ?? An ingredient making up the iron curtan.!!

    Keeping Lamberts Lunatic's alive~~

  • MC35

  • what is lambert doin on the raging rapids?

  • mmmHA

  • Miss ya still Myron!!!! Always will!!!!

I actually have about 6 Terrible towels!!

  • with the passing of harry kalas and all these great announcers...i'm so glad i got to hear these guys...in myron's last years on the radio..i'd watch the game on tv, turn the tv down and have the radio broadcast on....greatness can never be emulated

  • We love you Myron!

  • im a titans fan but rip myron

  • i hate the titans for stomping on the terrible towel they disgraced myron cope and the symbol of pittsburgh by doing that im glad that the steelers avenged myron and the terrible towel in week one and that the titans are out of playoff contention

but thank you for respecting myron :)

  • @grungeluvr i dont find anything wrong with stomping on a yellow flag made in china but if it was made in usa id respect it and just because titans and steelers are big rivals dosent mean we we dont have respect on certain people on each team and myrone cope rip i dont think anyone wants anyone to die just because of rivalries hell idk if aaron rodgers wants jay cutler to die lol

  • made in china or made in the usa its still the symbol of pittsburgh

  • @grungeluvr yea but if its supposed to symbolize pittsburgh the nfl team wouldnt decide to manufacture them in china if they really meant to symbolize the franchise and the people they would manufacture it in Pittsburgh and not in china

  • @emily6895 yeah its called mass production its cheaper and more convienient to have them made in china

  • @grungeluvr just showes that they dont care about the towels and make a big deal over a single yellow towel...

  • oh we care about the towels, i went to the steelers dolphins game the other day and every steelers fan there was waving their towel with pride

can we conclude this discussion? because its going nowhere lol

  • @grungeluvr im not saying the fans dont im saying the team dosent lol and yea guess we are going no where

  • @emily6895

g "The Official Myron Cope Terrible Towel" during the 1976 season.[9] Gimbels has since gone out of business; the current manufacturer of the Towel is McArthur Towel & Sports Co., in Baraboo, Wisconsin

  • thats right be American buy American

  • Yep, no one cares bud

  • Think of it this way: The Titans may be able to disgrace the Towel, but they can only do that because they know they will NEVER have a memorabilia item as sacred as that. No team, in any sport, ever will.

  • the titans are a joke, they should have remained the oilers

  • LOVE YOU MYRON!!! I never really knew much about him till he died.

  • We love ya, Myron. Thanks for everything.

  • awesome that pic of cope and lambert on the raging rapids at kennywood

  • yoi X 6 =

  • the terrible towel is brilliant....you wave it when you win...cry into it when you lose and if another teams fan pisses you off....dip the corner into an iron city beer and SNAP THEIR ASS!!!!!.....lol.....God rest you mr cope.....you are missed in the burgh and by all steeler fans.

  • The Terrible Towel Is not an instrument of witchcraftIt is not a hex upon the enemy. THE TOWEL is a positive force that lifts the Steelers to magnificent heights and poses mysterious difficulties for the Steelers' opponents only if need be. THE TERRIBLE TOWEL will serve as a memento of your having been part of the Steelers' Dynasty and if it causes good things to happen to you, so much the better.

    Myron Cope 1975

  • Gotta love the memory of Cope.........just wish he didnt smoke so many cigarettes over the years........otherwise he'd still be around to see the Second Dynasty.

  • RIP MYRON COPE. you are in everyones heart when we wave our TERRIBLE TOWELS! everyone misses you so much. this year is for you <3

i agree with krbugalou. the money from the towlels go to charity. i hate how the nfl is trying to get every team a "towel." at the titans vs steeler games the titans fans were COVERING UP WITH THE TOWEL! no one everrr does that with the terrible towel. we have them to show support for the STEELERS! and now in memory of myron.

GO STEELERS <3 love ya black n gold

  • Wven though hes dead. He still goes on.:)

  • how's your team doing these days? Laugh all you want, he lives on in every game where you see those terrible towels waving while we are beating you turd-birds.

  • Typical response from a ravens fan. I especially enjoyed the ravens implosion in the 2nd half. No class. Raw Lewis belongs in jail, not on a football field.

  • what a sick f#*# you are, dude!!

  • myron cope was awesome-let him rest in piece.

  • the titans have no class even if they win the super bowl they dont have the class of a GREAT MAN LIKE MYRON COPE ALL THE MONEY FROM THAT TOWELL GOES TO CHARITY THOSE TITAN BUMS THAT USED THE TOWELL IN THAT MANNER ARE SCUM

  • @krbugalou They lost 7 games straight after they did that and decided to write an official apology to the Steelers to try and get out of the streak. They finished 4-12 after starting 3-0. The curse of the Terrible Towel lives on.

  • go...sit at home? YUP!!!!!!!

  • MYRON COPE was STEELERS FOOTBALL!!! We as a city was blessed to have a broadcasting LEGEND like him. I miss hearing him on the air. He was Pittsburgh and a true CLASS ACT to the city of Pittsburgh and the NFL. Double YOI and the TERRIBLE TOWEL will live 4-EVER!!!!!!!!

  • I'll never forget the live post-game shows with Myron; a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. He Was The MAN!!

  • may he rest in peace one of the greatest steelers in history

  • He was loved and we will miss him so much

  • what a legend, we sure will miss him...

  • Joe Starkey is the best sports writer-radio host in Pittsburgh,MYRON COPE,MOLD WAS BROKE AFTER HIM.

  • THATS A DOUBLE YOI! Oh he was a GREAT commentator, I barely knew about him...But I loved his commentating. RIP Myron. We miss you here n Pittsburgh. Who am I kidding, you still exist in Pitt.

  • He was a great man everyone that is a part of Pittsbhurgh will keep him in their hearts he was there from lynn swanns diving catch over the defender to win the super bowl he was there when jerome bettis and hinez got their own super bowl to bad he wont be there when the steelers win another super bowl in his memory in 2009!!!!! GO STEAL CITY!!!

  • Myron was hero of the city He Helped us when we where down. He was Jewish haritage and don't no one say he was not religious. Because he was. His legand will live on in the hearts of the fans. ONce again GO MYRON COPE you ROCK!

  • Remember when he was alive.

  • You don't have too like Myron, but stay off his back...

  • Myron was GREAT....

  • Truly a wonderful man. So very modest, always had time to talk to you. The Terrible Towel, often copied, never the same. We love you Myron. RIP sir.

  • You're a joke, gooncomic. Go thump your bible and practice your hate (typical religious hypocrite) somewhere else.

  • y r u hatin ?? and to most people its Family first then beliefs and passion or happiness.. hypocrite

  • The name fits you well, A true GOON you really are. Go practice your fire and brimstone hate somewhere else. Your pathetic.

  • I'm not even going to bother responding to this one. The writer already contridicted himself.

So now I'll do a dance.

  • Myron never made a dime from the Terrible Towel. All the proceeds (money) from the Terrible Towel went to the autistic school and his son attended. Ie, But a Towel...help an autistic person. His family and the disenfranchised came first--you misinformed idiot.

  • gooncomic, wow, youre a bitch. and who says we dont prioritize religion, country and family? here in pittsburgh, the steelers are our family.

  • we luv u Myron RIP

  • RIP MYRON COPE

  • RIP Myron

  • RIP i will always have my terrible towel.STEELERS 4 EVER!!!!

  • RIP, Myron Cope...the voice of Pittsburgh!!!

  • Rip Myron. My T Towel is out

  • best man dead or alive

  • Myron, you were there calling those games throughout my childhood. To me you were as important as the players themselves. We know you will be watching over hienz field on sundays from the great big press box in the sky. R.I.P. you will be missed. May your legend live on.

  • If a game at Heinz Field should you attend, the Touching of Jimmy will not be so nice.

  • @DontTouchJimmy Take it Easy Hitler

  • this video is makin me cry

  • great job Myron, and may he inspire everyone to be their best! hope you enjoy my officer down and patriot act videos!

  • Myron was the MAN. Two lines From Myron during games that i will never forget. The first was him going nuts during a big steeler game after a big play he screamed "They're going crazy in PGH. They are throwing furniture out the windows!" And the second, and all time best was..

When Tomzack was smacked by a blitzer, he said " the good news is he is alright, the bad news is, he thinks he's a Chicago Bear!"

  • yes

  • My fondest memory of Myron... Late Oct 2001. First Mon game in 2 yrs... first mon night game in Heinz. Halloween wknd, 1 month after 9/11. Clarence Clemmons/national anthem on sax. Played the Titans..... and just killed them. I think 37-10. Myron on radio headed to game... said he was scared for his life to walk down on that field. The whole stadium was just electric. Forever Steelers..... Forever Myron Cope GOD Bless...

  • r.i.p myron! your voice will ring in pittsburgh forever!

  • If anybody has the videos of his versions of U Can't Touch This (Pirates), Ice Ice Baby (Penguins), Deck The Halls, Achy Breaky Heart or Macarena (Steelers), PLEASE post them.

  • It's incredible how such a huge personality was able to fit within that 1'3" frame.

  • he was a nice guy

  • I know you know nothing about being a respectful and good person so I'll explain something to you.Myron Cope's Terrible Towel is present at every Steelers game, home or away.Being such a humble symbol of what humanity should strive to be,Cope turned over all profits and rights to his Terrible Towel to Allegheny Valley School for Autism to help less fortunate.

  • you should seriously die for saying that

  • I have been a Pittsburgh fan for most of my life. I grew up in Lakewood, Ohio and my Dad took me to all the home games of the Browns. By being me, I went against Dad and starting cheering for The Steelers!!! The Terrible Towel is the greatest thing!!!
