  • Everytime I think I have heard all JD songs I find another one to fall in love with..I miss him and will always be His number one fan

  • For the longest time, I was not a John Denver fan. Then I got free tickets to a concert of his at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. I was awestruck. His voice soared above us, giving new meaning to the phrase, "sang like a bird." After that, I loved him. What a loss for us all. Watching this video makes me miss him acutely.

  • I sure do miss him.

  • John Denver and Steve Irwin. How I wish we could still have both of them with us and both still doing their work.

  • Beautiful song, incredible man. I miss him still, and Nature needs his voice more than ever. That poem by nixthetiger was inspiring and brought tears to my eyes.

    Thank you all for your caring for our Mother the Earth....she needs all the help she can get.

  • @anythinglovecanbuy: Great great video. Nicely done. Thank-you!!!

  • I love this man so very much.

    Thank you John,for the beauty you brought into my life.

  • I think that this is the nicest song J.D. ever sung..........amazing, thank you for posting.

  • Although I always thought John was at his best without all the orchestration, the beauty of this with Lee Holdrige backing him up does help to showcase his beautiful tenor voice. I always believed that John and Michael were kindred spirits even though they weren't always on the same page politically. I think Michael appreciated the respect John always give this song.

  • great job John ,will miss you dearly .Rod aspen

  • Very few singers could sing as well with an orchestra as JD could.. Great song, thanks for posting.

  • Wow! Amazing! :)

  • John Denver is part of us all.We are a part of each other.We are kin to the animals and we are alive.

  • I was actually in the audience in the Music Tent in Aspen for this concert. Fantastic concert and the fact that it was being made into a TV special made it even better.

    This is actually the 2nd take for this song. They ran out of video tape the first time through.

  • Thanks Jason for this upload. I love this song sooo much!! Even though John didn't write it, I feel it is his anthem. I truely think of is as his own song. Very good message you placed at the end. Take care!

    ~George~

  • beatiful!

  • A BEAUTIFUL SONG, A WONDERFUL VOICE AND THEN THERE'S THIS GOOD POEM. THANKS EVERYONE.

  • A simple song but so very powerful in content....Beautiful...

    When I bought "An Evening With John Denver" in CD format a couple of years ago, I was extremely disappointed that this song had been left off of it. This song was one of the reasons I bought it in the first place... At any rate, I still have it on vinyl. Love the man... Love his music...He was and still is a gift...

  • @PerryFanElite you can get Boy From the Country from "Evening with John Denver" now on iTunes

  • Every time I hear this music I realize how much my family has missed his singing I don,t know what he was like personally....but after seeing two of his concerts, he was quite a showman. R.I.P. John .

  • Beautiful video! Reminds us of all we lost when John died...and how far ahead of his time he was in his dedication to and concern for Mother Earth.

  • I remember seeing him in 97 and he opened with this and I was so taken with the story in this song the tears just flowed. It's hard to capture in words the beauty that he gave to the world but this song could've so easily been written about him.

    I still miss him terribly.

    May peace be with him.

  • Wow! This video is so beautiful! THANK-YOU for sharing. John is an angel who sang like an angel. Love & miss you JOHN! :)

  • Sing, Henry;

    the flight of a thousand ethereal beings,

    their wings a distant thunderstorm;

    a highway strings along the foot of a great mountain range,

    cold and a low mist makes it colder;

    his guitar echoes still, his tenor

    still wakes me from dreams of loss;

    his resonant vocals speak to me still:

    "There is no loss...my friend..."

    Sing, Henry.

  • @nixthetiger: Thanks for the beautiful poem... Moves me to tears...

  • @anythinglovecanbuy Thank you.

  • a great song written by another Colorado contemporary Michael Martin Murphy.

    Does anyone have the duo that Murphy and Denver recorded together on Johnny Carson, Carolina In the Pines, where the strings break on John's guitar?? Nothing like live music, for sure. Thanks so much for this most unique video

  • @flyingcory: Thanks for your kind comment!

  • The first time i heard John sing this song, I was moved to tears by not only the words, but by the genuine sincerity in his amazing voice. My favorite version of this song by far, is the live version from the album, An Evening With John Denver. When he does the falsetto at the end of the song, there's no wonder that the chills come and so do the tears. Forever in our hearts, John. <3

  • @sweetlowrayne: Thanks for commenting... A real moving song!

  • @sweetlowrayne Michael Martin Murphey actually wrote this song....his version is not as good, but as a songwriter, he is one of the best! He and John were very good friends.....

  • @sweetlowrayne Amen to that!!

  • @sweetlowrayne .. .Me too !! It was the first album of John's I bought. . .I will be 50 in December, and I was 12 or 13 when bought that LP. It cost me £3-99, which was a fortune to me then, I still have it to this day . I still play it, and still mourn the passing of the greatest singer/songwriter of my generation. I've shed more than a few tears today, and posted a shed load of John's songs,over my FB page, you never know?? Some of my friends might just hear what I heard, all those years ago.

  • Wow is right. I always loved that song in Concert. Mother Natures Son....Yes he is. Boy the world still needs a John Denver. How I miss that guy!

  • An amazing song. It sends shivers down the spine and tears to the eyes. Long live his music. R.I.P. John Denver.
