No that's a period incorrect M2 Carbine. An Automatic Carbine with adjustable sights and a bayonet lug. Developed late in the war but never issued in the ETO. More prominent In Korea and Early Vietnam. The Carbine used during WWII was the M1 Carbine.

@TechnicalJaguar well the reality is all countries looted the dead. tank troops especially because they were the only guys who could store large amounts of stuff. the germans bought all kinds of crap in ww2 even if they didnt need it even stuff like horseshoes and varnish! so if you saw a shot up kubelwagen full of clothes, money, paintings, weapons, jewelery and silk stockings for your girl, wouldn't you do the same?
its bad that guy was looting the bodies, I could understand if they were SS but they were just Wehrmacht guys forced to fight... looks like he stole that dead German man's wedding ring as well...
