Tonight's performance by AJ Burnett is border-line embarrassing, he should donate his check to charity. How in the hell can you not get a win with a 13-1 lead? They need to get rid of this dude somehow.
Dude, do you have any idea in the world that around 90% of all Yankee fans think you're a joke. For the money they give you, how is it all you can give back is a 50/50 shot at winning. You look at C.C. you look at Petite, you look at Hughes, you look at like 3 pitchers from any team in the whole f.ckin world and people are confident in their stuff.
Now with you, I will never understand why people still talk about you even being a quality pitcher. Nothing more, nothing less, just a 50/50 shot.
@brooklyny1 Fuck you ass bitch fucker fuck you shut your mouth dum ass i lik him u dont hesthe best one we got ass hole P.S fuck you bitch diker fuck , go shit cuss u act like it
man finnally got dat ring.....good for him, I feel bad for him he had so many starts that he deserved to win a lot of his losses and no decisions were quality starts. If Yankees actually had more offense for him then he would have had 16-17 wins
To think, he went to Toronto to learn out to pitch, If he never went there, I don't think he could be considered as good as he is now. Although he did get overpayed too much, I mean he isn't worth more a year than CC.

Burnett sucked!!!!! He deserved all the taunting he got. He doesn't care anyway, he's got his 80 million bucks. Poor Yankees lolol u can have the pussy
80+ Million Dollars for this guy? Let's look at his "accomplishments."
-Burnett's career winning percentage is .534%
-He's only thrown over 25 games 4 times in 10 seasons.
-He has only thrown over 200 innings 3 times in his career.
-He has only won more than 12 games once in his career.
-Woohoo, he won 18 games last year! Too bad his ERA was over 4.00. He also made SEVEN errors at his position. He walked 86 batters, and threw eleven wild pitches.
like he said, he turned his career around in 1 season in 2008 going 18 - 10...theres definitely a risk to signing him for 80+ on the result of 1 season but its not like the yankees dont have a lot of money...this is new york we're talking about..look at the payroll the knicks have
that being said, aj burnett is not a complicated pitcher, he is a fastball specialist with a solid curvebal and a below average change up i'd say...nevertheless, he gets the job done through strikouts, 230 last season
nyatheist i hope no one agrees with you. if an individual can make 18 million dollars they should and they should not be restricted. The gov't shouldn't control baseball and before all the dems on this page get crazy our gap between richest and poorest is far less severe than in other countries.
Obama is a sports fan,and a White Sox fan.Maybe he can do something at least informally to address what is happening.I am surprised so few fans are expressing concern about how ticket prices are headed for the stratosphere.
Baseball needs a salary tier system. The best players should get no more than say around $10 million a season(which is still insane of course)They need set salries rules so vulture agents like Scott Boras can be eliminated from killing our national pastime.
One of baseball's great strengths has been it's accessibilty to fans. Many parks located right in neighborhoods with very affordable bleacher seats, etc. That has been the case historically, but it seems to be disappearing into a corporate culture.
No nyatheist the gov't shouldn't be controlling enterprises such as baseball you dem. I respect that you're a fan of the team but no to your latest post.
I can see your point that we should never be eager to have the gov't step in,but it's looking that serious.Who else can turn the tide of this bad situation?
I also dont want to see the gov't regulating anything without good cause. But the situation in MLB seems very bad with greed leading the way.I hope it self corrects soon, but I doubt it will without outside intervention.
The U.S. gov't action on the steroid issue made a difference, the HR totals dropped back to natural rates. Now we need them to step in on the out of control economics of baseball, where middle class people are being priced out.
I agree the player salaries have gone way beyond sanity but trying to put the problem all on the Yankees shoulders is BS.Fans need to go on strike instead of ignorantly forking over so much to see a game. But in the meantime the Yankees have to pay the going rate for players.
With the new stadium it's only natural the Yankees would be extra motivated to improve the team. But in any case I wonder if the Yankee haters even care about baseball,or are they just trolls. How do you fault the Yankees for doing all they can to win?
The Yanks aren't helping themselves by blowing all this money on these bigshots. They need more minor league development. How do you think the Rays won the world series.I bet when the get to the post-season, C.C. Sabathia will fold up like a cheap old lawn chair (like a 3rd baseman they have) and crumble. But I hope they win it this year. And if the dont after all this money, they have a problem. GO YANKEES!!!!!!
yea, good point frankenharpo. Burnett is undefeated against BOS in his entire career.....with the support of his teammates and people like the fans around him now in 2009, things can only move forward.
As bad as he is, I still like him better than Jeff Weaver.

Well, the news just keeps getting better and better.
They are reporting in today's Washington Post some details about AJ Burnett and what he will bring to the New York Yankees.
One small side note: he has NEVER lost to the Boston Red Sox.
He is 5-0 against them lifetime.
