Tiscali wanted everyone to turn to 8mb because they knew the specific areas weren't ready for it.And they knew they could get away with charging £19 a month for the shit they offer.

i ve had problems with my tiscali since starting it a few weeks ago . i have 4 pcs (not networked) i have two routers (not plugged in at the same time) i reformated the pcs when i had problems so theres no spyware on them etc etc . i plug directly into the phone socket . bt engineers have fixed the phone line and i m still at 21 kbs - 132 kbs . its worse than dial up at times . i dont have a lot of hope tiscali will fix it . but i ll let you know if they do .

Dude why are you testing with a server in Moscow? Of course it's going to produce lame results.

I download happily at 800k flat line on Tiscali 8MB with newsgroups.

Maybe you guys are using poor P2P programs or have been throttled for downloading between 6pm-11pm (as stated in their terms and conditions).

If you're thinking of getting Tiscali's 8Mb deal,DON'T BOTHER. It's crap.

Firstly, no-one gets 8MB. I'm on ADSL and live less than half a mile from the exchange. I get 5MB, max.

Try watching Youtube vids between 4PM and 1AM. You can't because Tiscali throttles all traffic it sees as P2P between those hours including Youtube!

You can't game, downloading speeds are a joke and streaming vids is pointless.

Then there's all the dropouts. Your connection just dies for no reason sometimes for hours.

Hey People, As i did use to work for SpeedTest Online Support, i can say that this is not accurate. This is just how fast your browser actually runs the Speedometer, Nothing to do with your internet speed!

Same problem here, 8 meg connection, great before 8am then goes down to isdn speeds, but its my lines fault.

Shame I am a MS network engineer and can spot BS a mile off, their response is to normally put the phone down.

For the same server I get 1055 kbps for Download and 231 kbps for upload. My ISP is pretty decent and I know Tiscali are a load of shit but Im still thinking of upgrading to Be's 24 megabit line.

U are joking, Tiscali are the worst ISP I have ever used, I have a short Line and was only getting about 200kbps at off peak times, was even worse at peak time........They even continued to bill me months after me leaving them! I now have a much better ADSL2+ ISP with better speeds.

oi i got tiscali 8mb and xbox live works sweet on it. The only time ther is a bit of lag, is if another person has an ultra crap connection (300kbps or somthin).

Get the pacage with wireless and tiscali TV, its sick!

As for tiscali they only realy suck if your on the FUP as i was but after a few months i was un FUP'd.

What realy bugged me where the call centers mainly because you have to repeat every single word twice atleast to the people(where or who ever they are)who your talking to

Anyone recieving cheapish broadband in the UK tere ISP is with Tiscali, i'm on Pipex 8mb but on speedtest i can hardly reach 1 mb download speed, topped with a BT VOager 205 Router which stays connected for 5 mins then restarts i possibly have the worst connection ever. and to buchtis3 your isp will be tiscali i can garantue you if you go to speedtest you will get the same results as me
