Everyone here seems to be forgetting at madTV and SNL are not the same thing. At all. SNL is totally live, so they are kind of limited. madTV is not totally live. Do you think they could have changed sets and clothes so quickly to convey the passage of time if it were live? No. MadTV has an inherently larger box of tools to work with because it's edited together. SNL can really only do theater-like skits because the camera is always rolling. I'm not taking sides, just making a point.
