Here's my theory on the growl. If you watch any video of a 2001 doing a growl, it rotates for a few seconds then stops while the chopper spins up a little bit. Perhaps with the radio upgrade, it was wired up to do basically the same thing only with the blower and rotator wired together and the chopper separately.
If you listen in the backround there is a cyclone and a t-128. You can very feightly hear them....
