Varg Vikernes...nothing more to say...beautifully thoughtful, smart beyond his time and far beyond his years. 21 years in a "monastery", no doubt he is going to come out much more educated. Knowledge is power, power is "God". Varg, become "Thor" and smite us with your mighty hammer. ;-) ....please
What's really sad is most of you probably still think these guys are satanists or some stupid shit like that when all they really wanted was their heritage back from the christians who forcible took it from them. Obviously there are some other things going on with some of the people but the main premise of this whole thing was simply that. Christianity being forced on people who just wanted to be themselves. And the music fits the mood jackass. It doesn't all have to be black metal to work.
@Refusearefuckingdead I believe their own forfathers slowly adapted Christianity. It's not like some army from another far off place crusaded to Norway and forcefed Christ down their throats.Thats what I dont get why they say someone took their heritage.Thats been happening all over the world since humans were humans. But what do I know,I wasnt there 1000 years ago.
@MrNightfall079 I will admit that some people probably converted but not all of them. The ones who did not convert were either shunned or harassed until they did. Also the whole point of the start of this was that christians took holy places that were not theirs to take and now claim them as their own. So who is technically right?
@ClappAntoine You should, they spent a couple of years living in Norway to reach those musicians. Fenriz is the most approachable and level-headed of the subjects and I liked his willingness to explain things to the filmmakers.
@Malagard Fenriz is at least smart enough to stay clear of the church burning antics which got labelled with Norwegian Black Metal. Varg Vikernes got stupid or egotistical and committed a few arsons then committed an act of murder which I could guess, the police didn't buy his self-defence story.
This song took hold of me. After watching this documentary I couldn't get the stories out of my mind for weeks.

like they said most of them listened other music also. These were true black metal guys, not like the "blind" who are talking shit here.

This song (the part used as soundtrack) grabs the mood of the movie, I guess.
I think utltu is close to perfect compilation.
Hail to the makers!

@3baxcb Burzum is my favorite black metal act. But only Fenriz has my respect and admiration as a totally genuine person.
