  • Obviously the maybe monad is the answer you fools! :P

  • For that matter, his problem seems quite well solved ten years ago by Erlang. Streams of transactions are Erlang (esp. Erlang/OTP)'s bread-and-butter.

  • The SICPs lessons are 20 years old. The problem raised by this video is solved by Monads, a relatively new concept in Computer Science. There is nothing wrong with purely functional languages, and Haskell is a prime example of an excellent language that can be used for research, teaching but also real world applications.

  • The good news is that if you want to have monads in Scheme, you can. :-)
