Is there a part in this show where one of the instructors pointed out that you punch slightly angled down so gravity assist you? or was that human weapon?
i train in taekwondo and ninjitsu and mma, from taekwondo i have broken my knuckles from brickbreaking, i attempted 9 bricks and then broke my front two knuckles, its wasnt fun, i have conditioned my hands, forearms and shin bones to a high standerd, but these guys are rawwww.
I so prefer these two than the two guys in Human Weapon, these guys care a lot less about taking a couple of hard shots espcially Doug, hes a legend! Both good programmes but this takes it for me..
@bobster060195 Human Weapon is really hard to watch because of what incredible pussies both guys are. Doug is kind of a bitch too (especially in the Krav Maga and Kali episodes), but at least he's watchable for the most part. Human Weapon's hard to stomach, despite the interesting bits of history.
Has anyone ever question, if you can't hit opponent in the head in Karate, then what's the point of fighting? (Mostly coming from the view of Boxing) Is Karate still a true martial art? or a semi martial art sport?
@nchang227 actually in the very beginning of kyokushin competitions the punches to the head were aloud. As kyokushin is fullcontact with almost no protectors (no gloves or anything) it was just too dangerous in the competition.
So, ask yourself: In boxing you have gloves... is it still a martial art, alltough you use protecting stuff for don't killing your oponent?
@litschi1986 Boxing gloves are for protecting your hands rather than your opponent. I train in kickboxing, I am very wary of sparring with boxing rules as I got punched hard in the jaw, which didn't feel so good...
I once punched a bag full force with no gloves and hurt my wrist. Mike Tyson broke a bone in his hand in a street fight. So the karate training makes a lot more sense than boxing, its a question of finding a club which takes conditioning seriously.
@GoldenJadeJinYu Yeah, but there are many different styles. When you want to try out Karate, try Kyokushin or traditional Okinawa Karate, because that are fullcontact-styles.
@GoldenJadeJinYu it's going to be hard to find training this serious in the states. i've been training in karate for about 7 years and have meet people from all over the world through it... It only gets this intense in Japan

1.Kyokushin often TRAIN head shot, but not spar with them.
2.Sometime all Karate can be full contact, can get Shoto and Goju Fulcon. Especially in Japan.
3.Some tournament/style have bare-hand punch to head, look up Chaos MadMax.
4.Glove also protect opponent, Boxing have thousand punches in match, MMA have lot less, MMA have small glove.

kyokushin rules of competition state that no hand strikes are aloud to the head...but if used in self defence situations, there are no rules. :)
