What if you have the odd day you physically aren't hungry? Some days I only eat around 1000cals, should I eat something else even though I am not hungry?
To get an accurate number of calories you need per day, you should look up your BMR and not eat below that number. If you eat less than this while doing weight loss, you will probably lose lean body mass (Ie muscle).
This is very important too, when we diet our body thinks we are in a "starvation period" and turns on the "starvation mode", that makes our body store as much fat as it can!
So to lose weight we can't make our body think we are starving by any mean!
It depends on the individual, i was a sedentary person, on that period i could feel how foods affected my gain/loss weight. When i started drinking coffee i felt i was losing weight, cutting off sugar would make me lose weight too.
Now i'm into workout, and now all these things i noticed before are simply gone! Why? Because the more muscle you have, the more fat your body will BURN. So i started thinking about how much i BURN, not eat.
Of course what we eat is very very important, but it's not the only thing that matters.
For example, i'm vegetarian for 11 years, this helps me a lot because a lot of toxins that comes along with meat, chicken and fish, my body simply don't have to flush off.
So i think it depends, in my opinion, and for me the best way is to eat as healthier as possible, and develop muscles along with cardio workouts.
