  • His predictions here were 100% correct.

  • the weather outlook is the best

  • I heard about Piers Corbyn some years ago. I had listened to Piers's forecasts with disbelief.. Yeah well I'm now convinced, mea culpa, its the evidence he has produced that I cant deny! Ben Cowell

  • This guy absolutely nailed it for this past winter. Freezing cold and a bunch of snow over not only the Uk, but most of europe and the USA aswell.

  • well you were righrt. but there is always only a 50/50 change and since there were no sunspots until December 2009 i also predicted a cold winter. And it was the coldest in 14 years;)

Next winter will also be cold:D since there are not so much sunspots yet.

  • Very hard winter in the midwest.

  • It's quite warm here in Washington State, I was wearing shorts today. Last year I was shoveling snow.

  • ....thats a vague description

Well done once more for your accurate winter forecast but piers if you ever hope for people to take you seriously ahead of the met office etc. then you need to firm up on details nearer the time rather than trying to cover your own back by being so vague within your forecasts to cover your 'accuracy rating'

  • @1490k He does give short range forecasts actually, however, needing to put food on the table, he sells them on his website.

Why would anyone take the Met office seriously anyway? I'm not aware that the Met office is taken seriously, not nowadays.

  • by blizzards as either more and more energy gets thrown into the southern arm of the jet, or indeed as we see the recent stratospheric warming episodes propogate to the troposphere and send the displaced and split polar vortex through scandi and SW towards the UK. Then you will be able to comment 'yep, i predicted that, i said specific areas would get hit', regardless of where the snow hits

Come on! That at long range would be a forecast, but at this sort of range, thats not a forecast....

  • 'Bitter wintry weather will continue our forecast warned and continues to warn and there will be further specific blizzards & ice / snow deluges in specifically predicted spells through February."

Now yes this is vaguely accurate, but where are these 'specific areas' piers? If you are truely worried about informing the public when the met office dont accurately these are the sorts of details that people need.

All that will happen is some areas (namely southern counties) will get swept.....

  • Well good to see my previous comments we're removed - very democratic and impartial of you piers

I have nothing but respect for anybody who can accurately predict the weather, and indeed congratulations on yours and many other accurate winter forecasts. The problem is piers you are so vague and mysterious that whilst you identify trends, you leave the detail very vague even at short notice. For example, take this comment you left on a daily express article online:

  • The science must be pretty sound to forecast so accurately so far ahead.

  • one of the coldest winters in europe in, at least, the last decade. Good prediction.

  • Spot on Piers! Great Prediction, All airports were closed, really hard winter all over europe!!! How will be the summer?

  • The ugly truth is that the Met Office along with the CRU are nothing more than mouthpieces for the gloabl Carbon taxation & new monetary system planned by the elite criminal cabls.

I suspect that they new this would cold, but it is deeper cold than they expected, the timing of which has thankfully undermined the fictions generated through thier computer generated AL Gore ithms.

  • fucking A

  • @pondman27

sorry for the thumbs down mate i completely agree with you just pressed the wrong button by accident

  • It shows '0' but you got '2' thumbs up for that comment pondman27

  • The general consensus at NASA is that we are more than likely on the verge of a Dalton type minimum with the associated temperature decrease.

  • I read with interest that the BBC have labelled the severe freezing weather conditions we're experiencing in the UK as "upside down weather" which sounds like doublespeak to me. Are they saying that Met Office computer climate models which predicted a mild winter are correct but unfortunately the planets chaotic weather system is not playing by their computer programming rules?

    "Computer says NOOO"

  • Thnx Piers for this... I saw this back in October and prepared myself for a cold winter.... brrr .. its mighty cold outside and we are expecting record snofalls tonight in the south-east.. the north-west were gripped by it last night!

Once again Piers gets my vote of confidence... im listening to you!! :-)

  • yet again Piers is right again.

    global warming my arse.

    well done Piers.

  • 05.01.10

What are you doubters saying today then? LOL

  • @ 1490k:no predictions are 100% guaraenteed. But here's a little factoid for you.Piers Corbyn has now been banned from betting on the weather with William Hill bookies because last year he cleaned them out by £20k -a 40% profit on his stake. He's obviously doing something right, such is his confidence to put his money where his mouth is. Conversley, the met office hasn't made an accurate long-term prediction in 9 years.Funny also how their predictions are always warmer, not cooler, than real temps

  • Bring on the snow for winter 2009/2010 uk :D:D i want a snowy winter

  • Comment removed

  • I came here to view a forecast, not an insult to other forecasters. But I feel Piers that you are correct in one sense but not in another (as usual). Yes, British winter we expect to see Cold and Snowy spells every year and also stormy spells every year, so what you have forecast is nothing out of the norm nor extreme for Britain. I have a feeling that this year will be above average temps wise with average rainfall, judging by the increase in el-nino to moderate+ strength in the run up.

  • Metalhed09: two months ago " have a feeling that this year [winter] will be above average temps wise with average rainfall"

    Eating your words now?

  • All this guy is, is a Weather spin doctor for the tabloids tbh ... not much of a forecast is it ?. Just bare in mind that this winter will be a positive enso winter ( el nino) and the fact is all our mildest / wettest or less colder and snowier winters all fell in El nino years which looks likely for this winter too .. hence the meto's reasoning for milder and wetter winter than the norm for 2009/10!

  • Am I right in assuming your forecasts are based on the sun. I find this strange because surely you need to take into account all the variables that make our climate and the sun is only one variable amongst many others. This is why long range forecasts have never been successful because nobody fully understands all these variables and how they interact with each other. I would appreciate a reply on this. Thanks.

  • Im confused by this video. You say stormy and snowy spells when usually stormy weather is associated with a strong jetstream bringing deep low pressure systems and mild temperatures. What you often find in the UK is snowy spells are associated with high pressure centred over Scandinavia or Greenland. The only time you can have stormy and snowy weather is when the jetstream tracks to the S of the UK which to be honest is very rare these days. Early indications indicate this winter shall be mild.
